Star Guardian Neeko

First game I played with Star Guardian Neeko, my duo said “that’s the most Neeko skin ever made” and honestly I cant argue with that. Cheerful, colorful, over the top in the best way. The Star Guardian line has always leaned into that magical girl energy and Neeko fits it like she was designed for it from day one.

What Star Guardian Neeko actually brings to the table

This is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP so you get the standard package: new model, new VFX, new recall animation. Voice lines stay base. No new VO which is a shame because Neeko’s personality would absolutely carry custom Star Guardian voice lines, but thats what it is.

The model itself is gorgeous. Neeko gets a full Star Guardian outfit with the signature star-themed accessories, and her familiar Towa sits on her shoulder in the splash. Pink and teal dominate the palette. Her Q blooming petals now explode in starlight bursts, these bright pink and gold particles that read cleanly in teamfights. Not sure if it’s just me but the Q pop feels more satisfying visually than base. Could be placebo. Probably is.

W passive proc leaves a little star trail behind her. Subtle change but you notice it when you’re csing in lane. The clone from W also gets the full Star Guardian treatment which matters more than people think – in Diamond games where people actually check clone behavior, having a visually distinct clone helps sell the fake. E root fires out as a tangle of star energy, the tether line reads clearly against most Rift terrain. R is where the VFX budget went. Big starburst explosion, pink and gold radiating outward. Looks clean in a 5-man engage. Played a game last week where I hit a 4-person ult in dragon pit and my team genuinely thought it was a different ability for a second.

The recall animation is the highlight for me. Neeko transforms into her familiar and does this little dance. Pure charm. (Random aside: I have genuinely let the recall animation finish in unsafe spots just because I wanted to watch it. Cost me a death once around 2 AM in a ranked game, zero regrets.)

Star Guardian Season 3 and the September 2019 release

Star Guardian Neeko dropped September 12, 2019, part of the Star Guardian Season 3 lineup. This was the batch that brought in Neeko, Xayah, Rakan, and a few others. Big release. The Star Guardian Season 3 wave is I think the strongest overall set in the skinline. Every skin in that batch hit different.

No chromas available for this one. Kinda surprised honestly, most Star Guardian skins from later waves got chromas but the Season 3 batch mostly didnt. The base colors work well enough that I don’t miss them. Pink and teal is a strong combo for Neeko’s silhouette.

Permanent shop availability. 1350 RP, standard Epic pricing. Available any time you want it. Been running this as my main Neeko skin since season 10 I think, maybe late season 9 dont remember exactly. It’s held up well against newer releases.

Should you lock in Star Guardian Neeko?

Real verdict: this is the best Neeko skin if you want something that matches her personality. Bewitching is solid, Winter Wonder has its fans, but Star Guardian Neeko just feels right. The VFX are clean without being distracting, the model is one of the better Star Guardian designs period, and the recall animation has genuine charm.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Not overpriced. If you’re a Neeko one-trick or even someone who pulls her out for mid lane counterpicks, this is the one to own. Been spamming this in Diamond flex queue this split and it still looks modern next to skins from 2024. The Star Guardian line ages well because the aesthetic is timeless. Magical girl energy never goes out of style.

Skip it only if you hard prefer the darker Neeko aesthetics. For everyone else who mains Neeko or plays her regularly, Star Guardian is the pick. Top choice for Neeko mains, might be overthinking it but I genuinely believe this skin makes laning phase more fun just from the VFX alone. Simple change – huge impact on how the champ feels to play.
