Grand Reckoning Talon

First time I saw this skin drop in champ select I had to double-take. Grand Reckoning Talon caught me off guard because Talon skins tend to follow the same edgy assassin template and this one actually tries something different. Locked it in immediately for a Diamond ranked game last Friday around midnight and the vibe was just right.

What Grand Reckoning actually brings to Talon

New VFX across the board. Honestly not gonna lie, for a Standard tier skin the particle work surprised me. The Rake (W) has this heavy dark energy trail that reads way cleaner in lane than base Talon. You can actually see the return damage zone better which, kinda feels like a slight gameplay advantage when you’re poking pre-6.

Q feels punchy. The lunge animation carries a weight that base Talon doesn’t have, and when you proc the passive bleed the visual feedback is satisfying. Not a massive overhaul but enough that you notice it every trade in lane.

The recall animation is new too. Talon does this whole reckoning pose thing that fits the Grand Reckoning fantasy. Been running this in ranked for about three weeks now and the recall alone makes it worth keeping in rotation. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but Travis Willingham’s original performance still holds up fine.

R is where it shines most. Shadow Assault gets the Grand Reckoning treatment and the blades fanning out have a distinct visual that makes teamfight engages feel more impactful. Played maybe 15 games with it last week and every ult from the backline just looked clean.

The Grand Reckoning line and release context

Grand Reckoning Talon released March 5, 2025. Part of the Grand Reckoning skinline alongside Rell and Draven from the same set. Su Fu and Kudos Productions handled the splash, they captured this ominous judicial vibe that works for Talon’s assassin identity without going full edgelord.

No chromas on this one. Zero. Could be wrong here but I think the base color palette is strong enough that it doesnt need them. The dark tones with those gold accents read well on the Rift, especially in river fights around dragon pit.

Special pricing on this skin. Not your standard 975 or 1350 RP tag. Available in the shop though, permanent stock. (Random aside: the Grand Reckoning splash would actually make a sick desktop wallpaper, the composition is that good.)

Should you pick up Grand Reckoning Talon?

Real verdict: if you main Talon this is a solid addition. Not the best Talon skin full stop, that’s still a fight between Enduring Sword and Withered Rose depending on your taste. But Grand Reckoning fills a niche. Darker theme, clean VFX, good recall.

For one-tricks who have been spamming Talon in Diamond or anywhere on the ladder, the new particles on W and R alone justify picking it up. The Grand Reckoning aesthetic fits an assassin who dives the backline and disappears. Season 15 Talon players climbing through mid lane will appreciate how the VFX don’t clutter your screen during ganking or roaming through jungle.

Skip it if you already own three or four Talon skins and aren’t looking to expand. But if your Talon collection is thin, this one earns its spot. Simple change – real impact on how the champion feels in game.
