HEARTSTEEL Skins

All 7 skins in the HEARTSTEEL skinline. Browse splash art, chromas, and detailed reviews for every HEARTSTEEL skin in League of Legends.

HEARTSTEEL hit different when it dropped in 2023. Not gonna lie, I was skeptical when Riot announced another boy band skinline after K/DA and True Damage. Felt like they were milking the music universe dry. But then the trailer dropped and the actual in-game models showed up on PBE, and I had to eat my words. The aesthetic pulls from streetwear, hip-hop culture, and this raw industrial vibe that none of the other music lines touched. Seven skins total across six champions, and most of them actually slap. Been running these in ranked since release and the quality holds up way better than I expected.

What Makes HEARTSTEEL Stand Out from K/DA and True Damage

Kinda feels like Riot learned from the K/DA era. Where K/DA went full pop-star glam and True Damage leaned into the streetwear angle, HEARTSTEEL carved out this specific niche. Heavy bass. Industrial textures. Gold accents on dark bases. The shared VFX across the line use these pulsing sound wave particles that ripple out during abilities, and honestly its one of the cleanest unified visual themes Riot has done for a music skinline.

The color palette is where it gets interesting. Deep blacks, rich golds, neon accents that shift per champion. Kayn gets these aggressive red undertones. Ezreal leans into bright cyan highlights. Sett's got warm amber tones. But they all share that core HEARTSTEEL identity: the geometric patterns on clothing, the speaker-inspired design elements on shoulders and weapons, the bass-drop recall animation that every skin in the line uses.

Splash arts across the set feel cohesive too. Could be wrong here but I think the same art team handled most of them because the lighting style is consistent. That concert-stage backlighting with lens flares and fog machines. Every splash looks like a screenshot from a music video, which tracks with the whole concept. Compare that to some older skinlines where the splashes feel like they were painted by completely different teams in different decades.

The thing that ties HEARTSTEEL together better than the other music lines is the recall animations. Every champion in the line has this moment where they're performing. Sett's doing his thing with the mic. Kayn's got the full stage presence going. It doesnt feel like "champion but wearing a costume" which is the trap most themed skinlines fall into. These feel like alternate universe versions of these characters who genuinely belong in a band together.

Best HEARTSTEEL Skins Worth Your RP

HEARTSTEEL Kayn is the crown jewel. Full stop. As the only Legendary in the line at 1820 RP, it carries weight. New voice lines, unique transformation animations for both Shadow Assassin and Rhaast forms, and the VFX on his Q and ult feel crispy in a way that base Kayn never did. Been spamming this in Diamond jungle games since it dropped and the Rhaast form specifically looks incredible. The red and gold aesthetic on transformed Rhaast hits this sweet spot between menacing and stylish. (Random aside: my duo partner who's a Kayn one-trick literally refuses to use any other skin now, and he owned every single one before HEARTSTEEL.)

Prestige HEARTSTEEL Yone is the Mythic tier offering and honestly? It earns the prestige tag. The white and gold colorway over Yone's kit looks clean in teamfights. His Q thrust and R engage both get these shimmering gold particle trails that read really well on the Rift. Played against one last season around 1 AM in a Diamond 2 game and even on the enemy team it looked premium.

HEARTSTEEL Ezreal surprised me. Epic tier, 1350 RP, but the Q particles and auto attack animations got enough love that it competes with some of his more expensive options. The mystic shot has this bass pulse effect on impact. Not sure if it's just me but the auto attack feels smoother on this skin than Star Guardian Ezreal, and I've played both extensively.

HEARTSTEEL Aphelios is a strong pick too. His weapons already have distinct visual identities but the HEARTSTEEL treatment gives each one a music-themed twist. Severum's healing autos look like golden soundwaves. Gravitum's root has this deep bass thump visual. For ADC mains who want something fresh on Aphelios, this is top 3 material easily.

HEARTSTEEL Sett rounds out my recommendations. Real talk though, Sett was born for a boy band skin. The champion's whole personality is "punch things with style" and HEARTSTEEL leans into that. His W true damage zone gets this concert spotlight effect. Clean skin. Maybe not his absolute best when Spirit Blossom exists, but close.

The Champion Roster and Who Fits the Vibe

Six champions, seven skins counting the Prestige. Yone pulling double duty with both an Epic and a Mythic version. The roster selection here was smart. Riot picked champions that already have that cool factor baked into their design, which made the boy band concept feel natural instead of forced.

Kayn is the obvious standout pick for the group. Edgy assassin jungler with a scythe who literally transforms mid-game. Translates perfectly to rock frontman energy. His dual forms give the skin team twice the visual real estate to work with, and they used every bit of it. Played maybe 40 games on HEARTSTEEL Kayn in season 13 and the transformation sequence alone is worth the Legendary price.

Sett fits like a glove. Brawler with swagger. The skin leans into his confidence and it works. K'Sante is an interesting inclusion. Might be overthinking it but I think Riot wanted to give the newer champion some cosmetic love early, and the HEARTSTEEL aesthetic actually complements his tank-to-bruiser gameplay shift pretty well. The pre and post-ult forms both look distinct in the HEARTSTEEL style.

Ezreal is the safe pick. He sells skins. Everyone knows it. But honestly he fits the pretty-boy band member archetype naturally so I cant even be mad about it. Aphelios brings the mysterious quiet member energy. Yone rounds it out as the intense one.

Who's missing? Fair warning, this is just my take, but Viego would have been perfect for HEARTSTEEL. Ruined King with a guitar? Come on. Yasuo is another obvious candidate they held back on. And I think Akshan's whole aesthetic would translate to this line beautifully. Maybe in a future wave if Riot revisits the line.

Tier Breakdown and Price Reality

Five Epics at 1350 RP, one Legendary at 1820 RP, one Mythic Prestige. The pricing is weighted toward Epic which makes sense for a seven-skin drop. You're looking at 1350 to 1820 RP range depending on what you want.

The Epics do the heavy lifting here. Not gonna lie, for 1350 RP each, Ezreal, Aphelios, Yone, Sett, and K'Sante all deliver solid value. New particles, new recalls, the shared HEARTSTEEL audio design. None of them feel like 975 RP skins overpriced at 1350. They genuinely hit the Epic standard.

Kayn's Legendary justifies the 1820 RP. Dual form transformations with unique visuals for each, new VO, the full package. I've seen budget complaints about Legendary pricing in general but this one earns it. Compare it to some older Legendaries that got half the features and you'll see what I mean.

The Prestige Yone is the outlier since you couldn't just buy it outright. Event grind or Mythic Essence. If you were playing during the event window back in October 2023 and put the hours in, you got rewarded with one of the better Prestige skins in the game. The white and gold treatment on Yone's kit just works. Seen maybe 5 of these total in my games since release, which keeps it feeling exclusive.

Value-wise the full HEARTSTEEL collection is one of the more reasonable skinline investments. Seven skins isn't an overwhelming commitment like trying to collect every Star Guardian, and the quality floor is high across the entire set.

Frequently Asked Questions About HEARTSTEEL Skins

How many HEARTSTEEL skins are there?

Seven total. Five Epic tier skins for Ezreal, Aphelios, Yone, Sett, and K'Sante. One Legendary for Kayn. One Mythic Prestige version for Yone. All dropped in 2023 during the HEARTSTEEL event. Compact roster compared to something like Star Guardian but the quality per skin is consistently high across the board.

What is the best HEARTSTEEL skin?

HEARTSTEEL Kayn by a mile. Legendary tier with dual form transformations, new voice lines, and some of the best VFX Kayn has ever gotten. Been maining Kayn with this skin since release and the Rhaast form specifically looks incredible in teamfights. Prestige Yone is the runner-up if you managed to grab it during the event.

Which champions have HEARTSTEEL skins?

Six champions: Kayn, Ezreal, Aphelios, Yone, Sett, and K'Sante. Yone got two versions since he has both a regular Epic and a Prestige Mythic. Solid roster that fits the boy band concept naturally. Kayn and Sett are the standouts in terms of thematic fit if you ask me.

Does HEARTSTEEL have Legendary skins?

One Legendary. HEARTSTEEL Kayn at 1820 RP. Full package deal with new voice lines, unique animations for both Shadow Assassin and Rhaast transformations, and completely redone VFX. It carries the skinline honestly. Worth every RP if you play Kayn even occasionally in ranked or normals.

When did the HEARTSTEEL skinline release?

All seven HEARTSTEEL skins dropped in 2023 alongside the music event and the HEARTSTEEL song "PARANOIA." Think it was around October or November. One big batch release, no staggered waves like some other skinlines get. The whole set landed on live servers at the same time which made the event feel complete from day one.

Are HEARTSTEEL skins worth buying?

If you play any of the six champions, yeah. The Epic tier skins at 1350 RP all deliver solid value with clean VFX and good recalls. Kayn's Legendary is a must-buy for Kayn mains. The quality floor across the whole line is high. Only skip if you genuinely don't vibe with the music aesthetic or dont play these champs at all.

Do HEARTSTEEL skins have chromas?

The Epic tier skins got chromas, yeah. Multiple color variants per champion if you want to customize beyond the base HEARTSTEEL look. Kayn's Legendary doesnt get chromas which is standard for that tier. The Prestige Yone is its own thing obviously. Check the individual skin pages for specific chroma counts and colors.

Will Riot make more HEARTSTEEL skins?

Could be wrong here but I think a second wave is likely. K/DA got multiple releases over the years and True Damage had its moment too. HEARTSTEEL was well received and the music did numbers. Riot tends to revisit skinlines that sell well. My guess is we see new HEARTSTEEL members eventually, maybe season 15 or 16. Viego and Yasuo feel like obvious picks.
