Albion Skins

Kinda feels like nobody talks about the Albion skins anymore and I get why. Four skins total, all dropped between 2010 and 2012, most of them Standard tier. But real talk though, there's something about this medieval English folklore vibe that hits different when you actually use them in game. Been playing League since season 2 and these skins remind me of a time when Riot wasnt trying to sell you a cinematic universe with every patch. Just clean fantasy reskins. Kayle, Ashe, Morgana, Ezreal. Robin Hood meets Arthurian legend on the Rift. Simple concept, and for what they cost, some of them still hold up better than you'd expect.

What Makes Albion Stand Out From Other Fantasy Lines

The Albion skinline pulls from old English mythology. Think Sherwood Forest, Nottingham, thorny dark woods. Not the polished high-fantasy you get from Immortal Journey or Elderwood. This is grittier. More grounded. The color palette leans heavy into forest greens, deep browns, and for Blackthorn Morgana specifically, these twisted dark purples and thorny textures that feel almost Gothic.

Not gonna lie, the thing that ties these four skins together is less about shared VFX (most of them dont have new particles at all) and more about the thematic DNA. Every champion in this line gets reimagined as someone who belongs in a medieval English forest. Ashe becomes a Sherwood archer. Ezreal gets the Nottingham treatment. Kayle goes full viridian knight. Morgana becomes this dark fae creature wrapped in thorns.

Compared to something like Elderwood, Albion is way more restrained. No flashy ability recolors on three of the four skins. No animated recalls. These are old-school texture swaps for the Standard tier ones, and thats honestly part of the charm. You lock in Sherwood Forest Ashe and it just looks like Ashe wearing a different outfit. Period. No pretense about it.

The splash arts carry more weight than the in-game models for this line. Especially Blackthorn Morgana's splash, which still looks gorgeous even by 2026 standards. (Random aside: I had that splash as my desktop background for like six months back in season 3.) The rest of the splashes are older and show their age, but they have this painterly quality that modern splashes sometimes lack. Riot was doing smaller batches back then and you can feel the individual attention.

Could be wrong here but I think Albion is one of those skinlines Riot just quietly abandoned. Four skins across two years, then nothing. No continuation. No prestige edition. No event pass tie-in. It exists in this weird limbo where it's too small to be a flagship line but too thematically solid to completely forget about.

Best Albion Skins Ranked

Blackthorn Morgana. Full stop. This is the only Epic in the entire Albion line and it carries the whole thing on its back. 1350 RP, released November 13, 2012, and it was genuinely ahead of its time for that era. New model, new particles on her Q and W, this thorny vine aesthetic that wraps around her abilities. Played maybe 40 games of support Morgana with this skin last season when I was duo queuing with my ADC friend and the dark binding looks noticeably different from base. The root effect has these bramble tendrils. Clean.

The soil pool on her W feels thematic too. Like corrupted earth instead of the standard purple circle. For a 2012 Epic skin, the amount of work they put into Blackthorn Morgana is impressive. I think it still competes with some of her newer options honestly. Not all of them, Bewitching and Coven Morgana are both excellent, but Blackthorn has personality that those dont quite match.

Second pick would be Sherwood Forest Ashe. Standard tier, 520 RP. Been around since like 2010. Its just Ashe in green. Robin Hood Ashe basically. No new particles, no new voice lines, base VO all the way. But something about the green hood and the forest ranger look works for her kit thematically. You're an archer. You're in a forest. Makes sense. Locked this in for an ARAM last Tuesday and honestly forgot I wasnt using base skin for half the game. Thats how subtle it is.

Nottingham Ezreal sits third. Again, Standard tier, 520 RP. Similar deal to Ashe. Texture swap, medieval outfit, no particle changes. Voice stays default. The outfit makes him look like a page or squire from some medieval court. Not sure if it's just me but the color scheme on this one feels a bit muddy in game. The splash is charming in a retro way though.

Viridian Kayle rounds it out. 520 RP Standard. Green armor Kayle. She's had so many visual updates over the years that this skin looks completely different from when it launched. After her big rework the viridian color actually pops more on her new model. Decent for the price. Not gonna blow anyone's mind but mains who want variety without spending 1350+ might grab it.

The Albion Champion Roster

Four champions. Thats it. Kayle, Ashe, Morgana, Ezreal. Small roster, and honestly every single one of them fits the theme naturally.

Ashe is the most obvious choice. Archer champion, Sherwood Forest skin. The crossover practically writes itself. She already has this Freljord ranger identity in her base kit, so putting her in English folklore just works without forcing anything. Could be coping but I think she's the most thematically coherent pick in the whole line even if the skin itself is just a recolor.

Morgana in the dark enchantress role makes total sense too. Blackthorn as a concept, this corrupted forest spirit dripping with thorns, plays into her fallen angel lore beautifully. The Albion version of Morgana feels like she belongs in some Arthurian legend as the villain hiding in the cursed woods. (Sidebar for Morgana mains: you already know Blackthorn is underrated, I dont need to convince you.)

Ezreal as the Nottingham rogue is a stretch but it kinda works. He's got the explorer thing going on in his base lore, so reimagining him as a medieval adventurer isnt too far off. Kayle as a green-armored knight fits her righteous warrior identity. Both solid picks.

Who should Riot add if they ever revisit this line? Varus would be perfect. Another archer, darker edge, could do a cursed bowman angle. Maybe Garen for the classic knight archetype. Lux as some kind of forest sorceress. Real talk though, I doubt Riot touches this skinline again. It's from a different era of League entirely. They've moved on to stuff like Faerie Court and Broken Covenant for their fantasy fix. The Albion aesthetic is too understated for modern skin marketing where everything needs a trailer and a Spotify playlist.

Tier and Price Breakdown

Three Standards at 520 RP each. One Epic at 1350 RP. Thats your Albion price range. Most affordable skinline in the game probably. You could buy all four for less than a single Ultimate skin costs.

The Standards are what they are. Texture swaps from 2010-2011. No new particles, no new animations, no new VO. Voice pack is base only across the board for those three. You're paying for a different outfit and thats it. Fair enough at 520 RP. Nobody's getting scammed here.

Blackthorn Morgana at 1350 does the heavy lifting for the entire line. New model, new ability VFX, new recall animation. Standard Epic package but executed well for 2012. Might be overthinking it but I feel like without Blackthorn this skinline would be completely forgotten. Its the anchor. The one people actually remember and use in ranked.

No Legendaries. No Mythics. No Prestige editions. No chromas on any of them either. Bare bones line from a bare bones era. The pricing reflects that honestly. If you main any of these four champions and want a cheap skin option, Albion has you covered. Just dont expect Legendary-tier production value because you're not getting it here. (Exception being Blackthorn which punches above its tier for the era it released in.)

I ran Viridian Kayle for like three weeks during season 12 when I was climbing through Plat and nobody in my games even commented on it. Thats the Albion experience. Quiet skins for quiet games. Sometimes thats exactly what you want after spamming flashy Legendaries for a month straight.

Frequently Asked Questions About Albion Skins

How many Albion skins are there?

Four total. Viridian Kayle, Sherwood Forest Ashe, Blackthorn Morgana, and Nottingham Ezreal. Small line, all released between 2010 and 2012. Riot hasnt added to it since. Honestly think it's one of the smallest skinlines in the game right now. Not sure if they even classify it as active anymore on their internal roadmap.

What is the best Albion skin?

Blackthorn Morgana and its not close. Only Epic tier skin in the line, 1350 RP, comes with new VFX on her abilities and a thorny dark aesthetic that still looks great. Been using it in my Diamond games on and off for years. The other three are basic texture swaps. Fine for 520 RP but Blackthorn is the clear standout.

Which champions have Albion skins?

Kayle, Ashe, Morgana, and Ezreal. All four fit the medieval English folklore theme pretty well. Ashe gets the Robin Hood archer treatment, Ezreal becomes a Nottingham squire, Morgana goes dark forest enchantress, and Kayle rocks green knight armor. Compact roster but thematically tight.

Does Albion have Legendary skins?

Nope. No Legendaries, no Mythics, no Ultimate tier anything. The highest you get is Blackthorn Morgana at Epic (1350 RP). Rest are all Standard at 520 RP. This line predates Riot's current approach of dropping Legendaries into every event. Different era entirely. Dont hold your breath for an Albion Legendary either.

When did the Albion skinline release?

First Albion skins dropped in 2010 with Viridian Kayle and Sherwood Forest Ashe. Nottingham Ezreal followed soon after. Blackthorn Morgana came last in November 2012. So the whole line spans about two years of early League. Season 1 through season 2 era if you're counting by ranked seasons.

Are Albion skins worth buying?

Blackthorn Morgana is worth 1350 RP if you play Morgana at all. Genuinely solid skin. The three Standards at 520 RP each are harder to recommend because they're pure texture swaps with no new effects. If you want a cheap skin for Ashe or Ezreal and like the medieval look, sure. But dont expect anything beyond a costume change on those.

Do Albion skins have chromas?

Zero chromas across the entire Albion line. None of the four skins got chroma treatment. Makes sense given how old they are. Chromas weren't really a thing when these released. Riot probably doesnt see enough demand to go back and add chromas to 520 RP skins from 2010. Would be cool though, a dark red Sherwood Ashe chroma would go hard.

Will Riot make more Albion skins?

Probably not. Last Albion skin was 2012. Thats over a decade of silence. Riot has newer fantasy lines like Faerie Court, Elderwood, and Broken Covenant filling that niche now. Could be wrong here but I think Albion is effectively retired. Fun while it lasted. Maybe we see a spiritual successor someday but the Albion name itself feels done.
