Talon Skins

Talon has one of those skin catalogs that feels quietly stacked. Not the flashiest roster in League, not the biggest either, but 12 skins deep with some genuinely clean options. Been playing Talon on and off since season 3, mostly mid but occasionally jungle when the meta allows it, and I've owned most of these at some point. Could be wrong here but I think he's one of those champions where even the cheaper skins hold up because his base animations already hit hard. The parkour passive, the blade cascade on W, the ult stealth - hard to mess that up visually.

Talon's Skin Collection Over the Years

Twelve skins spanning from 2011 all the way to 2025. Not a massive catalog compared to someone like Lux or Ezreal, but Talon mains dont have much to complain about. Five Standard tier skins, six Epics, and one Mythic prestige variant. Pretty balanced spread honestly.

The early stuff is what you'd expect from that era. Renegade Talon and Crimson Elite Talon both dropped around his release in 2011. Texture swaps, basically. Renegade gives him a different color palette and Crimson Elite puts him in that military aesthetic that Riot was experimenting with back then. Neither one is gonna blow your mind in 2026 but they have that old-school charm. Dragonblade Talon came with the Lunar Revel event and was the first skin where Riot started putting real effort into his look.

Then there's SSW Talon from 2014 Worlds. Niche pick. Most people forget it exists. (Random aside: I actually saw someone lock this in during a ranked game last month and had to double check what skin it was.) The real quality jump happened around 2017-2018 when Blood Moon and Enduring Sword dropped. That's when Talon's catalog went from forgettable to actually competitive.

The 2020s brought Talon Blackwood from the Rift Quest line, Withered Rose, and then the High Noon set with the Prestige variant. Grand Reckoning landed in 2025 as the newest addition. Solid pacing from Riot, roughly a skin every year or two. Not neglected, not oversaturated. Feels right for an assassin with his level of pick rate.

Best Skins for Talon

Real talk though, picking a best Talon skin depends on what you value. VFX changes? Thematic fit? Raw splash art quality? Here's my ranked list after years of spamming him in Diamond.

Blood Moon Talon sits at the top for me. 1350 RP Epic that just works. The red and white color scheme fits an assassin who thrives on diving the backline and getting out before anyone reacts. W blades have that blood moon crescent shape, R particles are clean without being distracting. Kinda feels like Riot designed the Blood Moon skinline specifically for champions like Talon. Played maybe 150 games with this one and never got tired of looking at it. The recall animation where he slices through the mask is a nice touch too.

Enduring Sword Talon from the Immortal Journey line is a close second. 1350 RP as well. The wuxia aesthetic gives him this mythical swordsman vibe that fits his kit perfectly. Q dash looks like a proper sword strike, and the ult VFX with the jade-colored blades spreading out is gorgeous. Been running this in ranked since it dropped and the animations feel slightly smoother than base. Might just be placebo but I swear the auto-cancel on Q feels crisper.

Prestige High Noon Talon is the crown jewel if you managed to grab it. Mythic tier, special currency only. The white and gold palette over the High Noon western theme is clean. Not sure if it's just me but the base High Noon version actually looks better in-game while the Prestige wins on splash art. Both are solid though. High Noon Talon has those revolver-blade VFX on W that change the whole feel of poking in lane.

Talon Blackwood from Rift Quest deserves a mention. 1350 RP Epic with a fantasy rogue aesthetic that feels natural for an assassin. The dagger animations are sharp. Literally. Withered Rose rounds out my top five - the dark romantic theme with rose petal particles on R is surprisingly cool for what sounds like a weird concept on paper.

Skinlines and Themes That Fit Talon

Talon shows up in eight different skinlines across his 12 skins. Blood Moon is the obvious best fit. Assassin champion, blood themed skinline. Not gonna lie, it writes itself. The Immortal Journey line with Enduring Sword captures that wandering swordsman energy that matches his lore as Noxus' blade in the shadows.

High Noon was a surprise that worked. Western outlaw Talon with revolver blades shouldn't make sense but Riot pulled it off. The Withered Rose line is one of those thematic risks that landed well - dark fantasy romance isn't where I'd put an assassin but the execution carries it. Good stuff.

Rift Quest (Talon Blackwood) leans into the D&D rogue archetype. If you've ever played a rogue in tabletop you know why this works. (Sidebar for anyone who played the Odyssey event: Rift Quest scratches that same itch but fantasy instead of sci-fi.) Crimson Elite is dated but the military assassin concept had potential that Riot never fully explored.

The ones that feel most like Talon to me are Blood Moon and Enduring Sword. Both play into the "silent blade" fantasy without forcing a weird theme onto him. Could be coping but I think Talon works best in skinlines that take his assassin identity seriously rather than putting him in comedic or overly flashy settings. He's not Draven, he doesnt need the spotlight. He needs to look dangerous.

Budget vs Premium: Where to Spend on Talon

Here's the thing about Talon's catalog. No Legendaries. Zero. His most expensive standard option is 1350 RP across six different Epic skins, and then the Prestige variant exists in its own category. So the premium vs budget question is really about 520 RP Standards versus 1350 RP Epics.

Best budget pick is Dragonblade Talon if you can grab it. The Lunar Revel aesthetic holds up and you get a distinct visual identity for cheap. Renegade at 520 RP is the absolute floor - different colors, thats it. Fine if you just want something different from default.

For Epics, Blood Moon at 1350 is the best value. New particles on every ability, great recall, strong splash. Enduring Sword is equally priced and equally good. Honestly you could flip a coin between those two and be happy either way. If you're climbing ranked and want one skin to lock in every game, Blood Moon is my recommendation. 1350 feels fair for what you get. The six Epics are all solid enough that none of them feel like a waste, which is rare for a champion's catalog. Most champs have at least one dud Epic. Talon doesn't really.

Skip the Standards unless you're collecting. Real value lives at 1350.
