Rakan

Rakan Skins

12 skins available

Rakan is one of those champions where the skin catalog just works. Every single release since 2017 has landed somewhere between solid and genuinely incredible, and I think thats partly because his kit translates so well visually. Big flashy engage, shields flying everywhere, dashes across the screen. Riot's VFX team has a lot to work with on this guy. Been maining him on and off since season 7 and I've bought more Rakan skins than I'd like to admit. Twelve skins total and honestly not a single dud in the bunch.

How Rakan's Skin Collection Shaped Up

Rakan launched in April 2017 alongside Xayah, and Riot gave them Cosmic Dawn as their release day skin. Smart move. From that first 1350 RP Epic all the way to Battle Academia dropping in 2025, the collection has grown steadily without any long drought periods. Twelve skins across eight years. Not the biggest roster but Rakan hasn't been around as long as most of the cast so the pace is actually solid.

The tier breakdown tells you a lot about how Riot views this champion. Nine Epics, two Legendaries, and one Mythic prestige. No cheap 975 or 520 RP options anywhere. Kinda feels like Riot decided early on that Rakan deserves premium treatment every time. The cheapest you'll find is 1350 RP across the board for his Epics, which means there's no budget entry point. That might sting if you're just picking him up.

Could be wrong here but I think Rakan has one of the most consistent skin catalogs in the game. Season 7 started with Cosmic Dawn, then Sweetheart hit for Valentine's 2018. Two Worlds skins back to back with SSG and iG (2018 and 2019). Star Guardian in 2019 was the big moment. Elderwood came 2020, Arcana 2022, Broken Covenant 2023, then Dragonmancer and the prestige version, and finally Battle Academia in 2025. No real gaps longer than a year.

The two Legendaries are both Star Guardian variants. Star Guardian Rakan and Redeemed Star Guardian Rakan at 1820 RP each. Both are legitimate Legendaries with new VO, animations, the works. Having two Legendary skins in the same thematic line is unusual but it makes sense with the Star Guardian narrative they built around Rakan and Xayah's story arc.

Best Skins for Rakan

Star Guardian Rakan is my number one pick. Full stop. The 1820 RP Legendary treatment turned Rakan into something special. New voice lines that hit different from base, completely reworked ability VFX with that pink and purple Star Guardian energy on every spell. His W - Grand Entrance - leaves a star burst pattern on the ground that actually looks clean in teamfights. The R charm effect has trailing sparkles that make it visually obvious when you're hitting the engage. Played maybe 150 games with this skin in Diamond and the recall animation alone is worth the price.

Redeemed Star Guardian sits right behind it. Same 1820 RP price tag but with the corrupted-then-redeemed aesthetic that came out of the Star Guardian Season 3 event. The VFX shift from dark purples to cleaner golds as the narrative plays out. His Q heal looks different here, more radiant, and the E shield dash leaves a brighter trail. Not gonna lie the voice lines on this one hit harder emotionally if you followed the Star Guardian story.

Cosmic Dawn Rakan deserves respect as his launch skin. 1350 RP Epic that still holds up in 2026. The cosmic particle effects on his abilities feel weighty. (Random aside: I still think this splash art is underrated, the starfield behind him goes hard.) His W impact zone has this nebula burst effect thats genuinely beautiful. For an Epic from 2017 it competes with skins released years later.

Prestige Dragonmancer is the flex pick. Mythic tier, special pricing, gold and dragon motifs all over. The prestige border and loading screen presence alone make people respect you in champ select. Been running this in ranked last split and the amount of honor I get from ADCs who recognize it is honestly funny.

Sweetheart Rakan rounds out my top five. Valentine's themed, paired with Sweetheart Xayah obviously. The pink and red color palette on his abilities looks surprisingly clean on the Rift. His W slam has heart particles which sounds cheesy but in practice reads well during engage. Good 1350 RP skin if you duo with a Xayah player.

Skinlines and Thematic Fit

Rakan shows up in eight different skinlines and honestly most of them suit him. The Cosmic line was a natural fit because Rakan's fluid movement style translates perfectly to space-themed particle effects. Star Guardian is the standout though. The entire narrative arc Riot built around Rakan and Xayah in that universe gave the skins emotional weight beyond just looking cool. Season 9 I think when Star Guardian dropped and it was a big deal in my friend group.

Elderwood Rakan works better than I expected. The nature spirit aesthetic turns his dashes into these leafy green trails and his W impact scatters autumn leaves. Might be overthinking it but I feel like Elderwood captures Rakan's trickster personality better than some of the more serious skinlines.

The two Worlds skins - SSG and iG - are fine but nothing extraordinary. They're commemorative skins with team branding, cool if you followed those rosters, less exciting if you didn't. Arcana Rakan leans into the mystical tarot card fantasy and the red-gold VFX pop hard against the Rift's green. Broken Covenant went darker, more gothic. Each skinline brings something different and Rakan adapts to all of them because his kit is so visually expressive.

Real talk though the Dragonmancer line surprised me. Dragon-themed support engage champion sounds generic on paper but the execution landed. The base Dragonmancer skin at 1350 RP has solid dragon claw effects on his W and the prestige version elevates everything with gold accents. Battle Academia in 2025 was the newest addition and it fits the anime school fighter vibe well enough. Not his best skin but a solid Epic.

Budget vs Premium Picks

Here's where Rakan's catalog gets tricky. There is no budget option. Every skin starts at 1350 RP minimum. No 975 or 750 tier skins exist for this champion. If you want a Rakan skin you're spending at least 1350 and that's just the reality.

Within the Epic tier at 1350, Cosmic Dawn punches the hardest for the price. It's his oldest skin and still one of the best looking. The cosmic VFX aged well and the splash is clean. Arcana Rakan is another strong 1350 pick with bold red-gold effects that read clearly in lane and in teamfights.

For premium, Star Guardian at 1820 is the definitive Rakan skin experience. New VO, new animations, new everything. If you're climbing with Rakan and want one skin to own, thats the one. 1820 feels fair for what you get. The Prestige Dragonmancer is technically the most exclusive but it requires either the prestige event grind or Mythic Essence, so the "price" is harder to quantify. Worth it if you already had the currency. Wouldn't chase it specifically.

Honest recommendation: if you main Rakan, get Star Guardian. If you play him occasionally, Cosmic Dawn or Arcana at 1350 are the value picks. Simple as that.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many skins does Rakan have?

Rakan has 12 skins total as of 2025. Nine Epics at 1350 RP, two Legendaries at 1820 RP (both Star Guardian variants), and one Mythic prestige. Pretty solid collection for a champion released in 2017. No cheap options though, everything starts at 1350 minimum which is kinda rough for newer players picking him up.

What is the best Rakan skin?

Star Guardian Rakan. Not even close in my opinion. Full Legendary treatment with new voice lines, reworked animations, and VFX that look incredible during engage combos. Been spamming it in ranked for seasons. Redeemed Star Guardian is the alternative if you prefer the redemption arc aesthetic but original Star Guardian edges it out for me.

What is the cheapest Rakan skin?

Every Rakan Epic costs 1350 RP and theres no lower tier option available. Cosmic Dawn, Sweetheart, SSG, iG, Elderwood, Arcana, Broken Covenant, Dragonmancer, and Battle Academia all sit at 1350. No budget 975 or 750 skins exist for Rakan. Your cheapest path is waiting for a sale on one of the Epics or getting lucky with Hextech crafting.

Does Rakan have a Legendary skin?

Yeah, two of them actually. Star Guardian Rakan and Redeemed Star Guardian Rakan, both 1820 RP. Both come with new voice lines, unique animations, and completely reworked VFX. They're connected through the Star Guardian storyline which gives them extra narrative weight. Solid Legendaries, not just reskins with a price bump.

What skinlines is Rakan in?

Rakan appears in eight skinlines: Cosmic, Heartbreakers (Sweetheart), World Champions 2017 and 2018, Star Guardian Season 3, Elderwood, Arcana, Broken Covenant, and Dragonmancer. Battle Academia joined in 2025. Star Guardian is the standout line for him. Most of these themes fit his flashy engage style surprisingly well.

Does Rakan have chromas?

Several of Rakan's Epic skins have chroma sets available. The exact count varies by skin but you can find chromas for skins like Elderwood, Arcana, and Broken Covenant among others. Chromas run 290 RP each or you can grab bundles. Some event chromas might be harder to find if you missed the original release window.

When was Rakan's last skin released?

Battle Academia Rakan dropped in 2025, making it his most recent skin. It's an Epic at 1350 RP with the anime school fighter aesthetic. Decent skin, fits the Battle Academia vibe. Before that was Dragonmancer and its Prestige variant. Rakan gets pretty consistent skin releases, usually one every year or so since launch.

Is Rakan worth buying skins for?

If you play Rakan regularly then absolutely yes. His kit is so visually expressive that skin VFX upgrades feel more impactful than on most supports. The W engage, E shield dash, R charm - every ability benefits from good particle work. Star Guardian alone justifies investing in Rakan skins. Even the 1350 Epics feel premium compared to Epic skins on other champions. Worth it for mains.
