Nautilus Skins

11 skins available

Nautilus has one of those skin catalogs that feels quietly solid without ever really blowing up. Been playing him on and off since season 3, mostly as support but I've taken him jungle and even top in some cursed Diamond lobbies. 11 skins across 12 years and honestly the quality curve went from "okay I guess" to genuinely impressive around 2020. Not gonna lie, the big anchor man doesn't get the flashy treatment that Lux or Yasuo mains expect, but what he does get tends to land well. The collection rewards patience.

The Full Nautilus Skin Catalog

11 skins total spanning from 2012 to 2024. That's a decent spread for a champion who never really dominated the meta long enough to justify a Legendary. Five Standard tier skins, five Epics, and one Mythic. No Legendary. Kinda wild when you think about it, because Nautilus has been a staple support pick for years and Riot still hasnt given him the full VO treatment. Maybe one day.

The early skins are what you'd expect from 2012-era Riot. Abyssal Nautilus dropped alongside his release, and Subterranean Nautilus followed not long after. Both are texture swaps with minor model tweaks. Fine for the era, rough by today's standards. The kind of skins you equip when you want people to know you've been playing this champion since before it was cool.

Things picked up around 2015 with AstroNautilus. That was the turning point for his catalog. From there you got Warden, Worldbreaker, Conqueror, and then the real heat started with Shan Hai Scrolls and Fright Night. Could be wrong here but I think the 2020-2024 stretch is where Nautilus mains actually got spoiled. Five of his skins are Epic tier at 1350 RP each, which means Riot consistently invested in new particles, models, and recall animations for the big guy. The Mythic Crystalis Indomitus skin from 2024 capped it off with something exclusive for collectors.

No Ultimate. No Legendary. The ceiling is Epic plus one Mythic. For a champion with Nautilus's kit and silhouette, that feels like missed potential. His Q hook alone could carry a Legendary with unique VO lines for every hook target. (Random thought: imagine Nautilus with Legendary-tier voice lines trash talking each champion he hooks. Would buy instantly.) But we work with what we have, and what we have is honestly pretty good for the price range.

Best Nautilus Skins Worth Locking In

AstroNautilus. Full stop. This is the skin that made Nautilus mains. Released back in 2015 at 1350 RP, the space suit redesign turns his anchor into this sci-fi satellite dish thing and his W shield becomes a glowing astronaut helmet bubble. The Q hook animation has this rocket-trail effect that just feels clean to land. Been spamming this in Diamond for multiple seasons and the visual clarity on his R knockup is genuinely better than base. The depth charge looks like a torpedo tracking across the lane. Hard to go back once you've played 50 games with it.

Shan Hai Scrolls Nautilus dropped in early 2021 and it's a sleeper pick. The ink-brush aesthetic transforms his kit into something that looks like a traditional Chinese painting coming to life. His E ripple effect has these watercolor waves spreading outward. Beautiful skin. The recall animation where he paints with his anchor is one of Riot's better creative moments for the champion. Might be overthinking it but I think the auto-attack animations feel slightly smoother on this one, probably just the visual feedback tricking my brain.

Fright Night Nautilus is the spooky option and it goes harder than it has any right to. Released 2022, 1350 RP. The scarecrow-horror redesign gives him this haunted deep-sea diver look. His Q chain becomes these ghostly tendrils. Played maybe 30 games with this around Halloween last year and the R depth charge genuinely startled my duo partner the first time they saw it track across bot lane. The green-purple color palette reads well against the Rift.

Cosmic Paladin Nautilus takes him in the cosmic direction. Space theme again but completely different vibe from AstroNautilus. More celestial guardian, less goofy astronaut. The W shield on this one has these constellation patterns that look incredible in teamfights. Solid pick if you want something that feels premium without the joke factor.

Crystalis Indomitus Nautilus sits at Mythic tier, meaning you cant just buy it outright. Loot exclusive. The crystalline armor redesign is striking and the ability VFX have this gemstone refraction quality. Whether its worth the grind or the Mythic Essence depends on how deep your Nautilus commitment goes. For one-tricks? Absolutely. For the occasional support fill game? Probably not.

Skinlines and Where Nautilus Fits

Nautilus shows up in a bunch of skinlines but some fit better than others. The Astronaut line is probably his most iconic placement. Makes sense thematically - big bulky suit, deep sea explorer reimagined as deep space explorer. The naming pun alone (AstroNautilus, come on) earned that skin its spot in the catalog.

Shan Hai Scrolls is an underrated skinline overall and Nautilus works well in it. The mythological Chinese art direction gives him gravitas that fits his slow, deliberate playstyle. When you're peeling for your ADC in a teamfight, the ink-brush effects spreading across the screen just hit different compared to standard blue water particles.

Fright Night as a skinline launched in 2022 and Nautilus was a natural fit. Big imposing figure with a horror redesign. Not sure if it's just me but the Fright Night skins across all champions feel like Riot's art team had more creative freedom than usual. The Nautilus entry benefits from that energy.

Warden and Worldbreaker are the more forgettable placements. Competent skins, nothing special. Warden Nautilus looks like what would happen if you asked "what if Nautilus but slightly more armored" and Worldbreaker goes for a tribal stone aesthetic that doesn't quite land for me personally. (Sidebar: Worldbreaker as a skinline has maybe two good entries total across all champions and Nautilus isnt one of them.) Conqueror Nautilus exists as an esports commemoration skin. Cool for the history, mid for the visuals.

The Forgotten Depths and Legacy placements cover his older skins. Abyssal and Subterranean. Historical curiosities at this point. Real talk though, Subterranean has this ugly charm that some veteran players genuinely prefer. Seen it maybe twice in my games all season but when it shows up you know that player has been around.

Budget vs Premium Picks

Here's where Nautilus mains get lucky. His entire purchasable catalog maxes out at 1350 RP. No Legendary tax. The Standard skins sit at 750 RP and the Epics at 1350. That's it. Clean pricing.

Best budget pick is probably Subterranean Nautilus at 750 RP if you want something different from base without spending much. It's not gonna win any beauty contests but the earthy brown-green palette is distinct enough in lane. For 750 RP you're getting a model swap and that's about it. Fair deal.

At 1350 RP, AstroNautilus remains the best value in his catalog. Full VFX overhaul, unique recall, new SFX, and it's been a fan favorite since 2015. If you're only buying one Nautilus skin ever, that's the one. Shan Hai Scrolls and Fright Night are both excellent alternatives at the same price if the astronaut theme doesn't appeal to you. Kinda feels like you can't really go wrong with any of his Epic skins, each one changes enough to feel worth the 1350 RP. The only real premium stretch is Crystalis Indomitus at Mythic tier which requires Mythic Essence - thats a different economy entirely and depends on your crafting luck or your willingness to grind events.

No Legendary means no 1820 RP decision to agonize over. For climbing ranked as Nautilus support, the skin choice is purely cosmetic preference in the 750-1350 range. Pick whichever vibe matches your mood that week.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many skins does Nautilus have?

Nautilus has 11 skins total as of 2024. Five Standard tier, five Epic, and one Mythic. Been collecting them since season 3 and honestly the catalog grew at a steady pace. No Legendary yet which still surprises me given how popular he is in support. The collection spans from his 2012 release skins all the way to Crystalis Indomitus in 2024.

What is the best Nautilus skin?

AstroNautilus at 1350 RP. Not even close for most mains. The space theme redesign, rocket-trail Q animation, and bubble W shield are iconic at this point. Been running this in ranked for years. Shan Hai Scrolls is the runner-up if you want something with more artistic flair. Both are Epic tier so same price, different vibes.

What is the cheapest Nautilus skin?

Abyssal Nautilus and Subterranean Nautilus both sit at 750 RP. Standard tier skins from 2012. Mostly model and texture swaps without new VFX or animations. Subterranean has a decent earthy look. Not glamorous but they get the job done if you just want something different from base without dropping 1350.

Does Nautilus have a Legendary skin?

Nope. No Legendary for Nautilus as of 2024. His highest tier is Mythic with Crystalis Indomitus. Feels like a missed opportunity honestly. A Legendary Nautilus with unique voice lines for hooking each champion would be incredible. Maybe Riot has something planned but right now his ceiling is Epic plus that one Mythic.

What skinlines is Nautilus in?

Nautilus appears in Forgotten Depths, Astronauts, Warden, Worldbreaker, Conqueror, Shan Hai Scrolls, Fright Night, and Crystalis Indomitus lines. Astronauts is his most famous placement because of that AstroNautilus pun. Shan Hai Scrolls and Fright Night are the best thematic fits in my opinion. Solid variety across his catalog.

Does Nautilus have chromas?

Several of his Epic skins have chromas available. AstroNautilus, Shan Hai Scrolls, Fright Night, and Cosmic Paladin all got chroma sets. Gives you extra color options on top of the base skin. Some of the chroma palettes on AstroNautilus are actually cleaner than the default - the dark space variant specifically goes hard in my ranked games.

When was Nautilus's last skin released?

Crystalis Indomitus Nautilus in 2024. Mythic tier skin so it's not a regular shop purchase. Before that, Cosmic Paladin and Petricite Nautilus were his most recent additions. Riot's been giving him fairly consistent releases the last few years which is nice to see after some dry spells in the middle of his catalog history.

Is Nautilus worth buying skins for?

If you play support regularly, absolutely. Nautilus is one of those champions who stays meta-relevant across patches. Tanky engage support that works in most comps. His skins are all 1350 RP or less for purchasable ones, so the investment isnt steep. Grabbed AstroNautilus back in season 5 and still use it today. Good longevity on these skins.
