In League of Legends, your behavior matters – on and off the Rift. Riot’s Honor system is how the game acknowledges positive players while limiting the perks of those who step out of line. Be a good teammate, and you’ll earn extra rewards like bonus BXP and exclusive cosmetic content. Misbehave, and you’ll see reduced rewards and tighter restrictions on communication.

Starting with Patch 25.04, everyone’s Honor level will reset to 3 – a neutral baseline with full chat privileges. New players will also begin at Honor 3. From there, your conduct shapes your progression. Play fair, stay positive, and your Honor level can rise, unlocking even better perks.

Unlike before, Honor won’t reset annually after 25.04. That means building a solid reputation is a long-term investment.

🌟 How to Earn (and Keep) Honor

🤝 Honor Votes

After each match, players can give one Honor vote to someone who played well – whether they were on your team or the opposing side. Once cast, votes can’t be changed.

Didn’t receive a vote? No stress. You also earn Honor passively by maintaining positive communication and demonstrating good teamwork.

📈 Boosting Your Honor Vote Count

Unused votes carry over, up to a maximum of 4.

🧠 Team Bonus

If everyone on your team gives out an Honor vote, everyone gets a small Honor boost – win or lose. It pays to uplift others.

🚫 Premade Group Votes

To keep things fair, votes given to premade friends won’t count toward your Honor progression. Friendly behavior still helps – just don’t expect boosts from your duo queue.

⚠️ How You Lose Honor

1. Declining Behavior

Even if you hit Honor 4 or 5, maintaining that status means continuing to show the positive behavior that got you there. If you stop engaging or helping your team, you could slip back to Honor 3 – but don’t worry, Riot will give you a heads-up if you’re at risk of demotion.

Taking a break from the game won’t hurt your Honor. Only your actions in-game affect it.

2. Penalties or Reports

If you receive a penalty, your Honor level drops automatically. You’ll always get an in-client notification and can view the details on your profile.

🔄 Redemption: Climbing Back

If your Honor level drops due to penalties, you’ll need to complete Honor Restriction requirements to regain access to higher levels. These usually involve playing several clean games without being reported.

Once you’ve completed the requirements, you’ll be restored to at least Honor 3, but you won’t automatically return to your previous tier. Your behavior in those recovery games still matters.

⚠️ Repeat penalties make it harder to bounce back – each time you fall, the climb gets steeper.

💬 Frequently Asked Questions

❓ Will my Honor level transfer to another server?

Yes, your Honor travels with you.

❓ What happened to Honor checkpoints and orbs?

Riot is shifting toward a single progression system (BXP). Older features like checkpoints and orbs have been phased out to make Honor more meaningful and streamlined.

❓ What about leftover Honor Tokens?

You can still use them in the Honor Shop. When Patch 25.06 hits, any unspent Honor 5 Tokens in your loot will be converted into 1,050 Orange Essence.

Bottom line:
Play with respect. Lift your team up. Whether you win or lose, Honor is how League remembers you.
