Immortal Journey Zaahen

First game I loaded into with Immortal Journey Zaahen, my duo asked me if it was a new champion. Thats how different the silhouette reads. The Immortal Journey line has this way of wrapping champions in layered robes and celestial armor that completely shifts how they look on the Rift, and Zaahen got the full treatment here.

What Immortal Journey actually changes on Zaahen

The model rework is clean. Zaahen gets flowing robes with gold trim, jade accents running along the shoulders and arms, and this ornamental headpiece that catches light during ability animations. Base voice lines, no new VO. Standard for an Epic skin.

Not gonna lie, the color palette alone carries a lot of the weight. Deep teals and warm golds replace the default kit’s aesthetic, and it reads well even in chaotic teamfights where you can barely track whats happening. The weapon redesign fits the Immortal Journey fantasy – ornate, slightly oversized, the kind of thing you’d see in a wuxia film.

Q hits look slightly different just from the model change, though there’s no new VFX here. Same deal with the W and E. Might be overthinking it but the auto attack animations feel smoother with the new model proportions. Could just be placebo. Been running this in ranked for a couple weeks and the skin doesnt distract from gameplay, which honestly is all I ask from an Epic tier cosmetic. Some skins look incredible in the splash and then you lock in and the in-game model is a letdown. Not the case here.

(Random aside: the loading screen art on this one is genuinely wallpaper material, been using it on my second monitor since I picked it up.)

The Immortal Journey line and where Zaahen fits

Immortal Journey is one of Riot’s more consistent skinlines. Every champion they put in it tends to look good because the theme has strong visual guardrails – the jade, the gold filigree, the flowing silks. Zaahen slots in naturally. The champion’s base design already has that martial arts energy, so wrapping it in Immortal Journey armor doesnt feel forced.

8 chromas total. Obsidian is the standout for me, strips away the warm tones and goes full dark jade with black accents. Amethyst runs a close second, the purple reads really well against the gold trim. Pearl is fine if you want the cleaner look but I think it washes out some of the detail work on the armor.

Shop has it. Permanent availability, so no rush if you’re on the fence. Epic tier pricing. Voice pack is base only, no filter either. No new recall animation. Straight model and texture swap with the chromas as your customization layer.

Verdict on Immortal Journey Zaahen

Real talk though. This is a solid Epic skin that does exactly what it needs to do. The Immortal Journey aesthetic fits Zaahen better than I expected going in. Played maybe 30 games with it across Diamond lobbies last week and the skin feels good in lane, looks clean in fights, and the splash is top tier for the price point.

Could be wrong here but I think this might age well too. The Immortal Journey skins from previous batches – Shyvana, Sona, Zed, Zeri – they all still hold up visually because the theme isnt trend-chasing. It’s classical fantasy done right. Zaahen benefits from that same design philosophy.

Skip if you already have a Zaahen skin you’re attached to and dont care about the wuxia vibe. But for Zaahen mains looking for their main rotation skin, this one earns the slot. The Obsidian chroma specifically turns it into something that looks more expensive than it is. Had a game last Thursday where my jungler complimented the skin mid-gank, which basically never happens in solo queue. Fair price for the package. Not the flashiest Epic Riot has ever shipped but the execution is clean and the theme fits. Sometimes that’s enough.
