La Ilusión Qiyana

First game I played with La Ilusión Qiyana was a late-night ranked session, maybe 1 AM on a Wednesday, and I remember thinking Riot finally gave Qiyana a skin that matches her energy. Not the edgy assassin vibe, not the pop star angle. Something vibrant and loud and genuinely fun. Been running this in Diamond for a solid stretch now and it hasnt left my rotation since.

How La Ilusión Qiyana actually looks in game

The whole La Ilusión theme pulls from Latin American festival aesthetics, and Qiyana wears it better than most of the lineup. Her ohmlatl gets this ornate gold and teal treatment with floral patterns worked into the blade. Gorgeous detail on the model.

VFX are where the 1350 RP really shows up. Her Q shifts between elements like always, but each form gets these warm, saturated particle trails. The grass element specifically pops with bright marigold-orange bursts that read super clean against the Rift. W swap animations have a subtle shimmer now, almost like confetti dissolving. Not gonna lie, it made me want to spam element swaps just to watch the transitions.

E dash leaves this streak of color behind her. Quick but noticeable. R is the highlight though. Supreme Display of Talent already has one of the best ult animations for any assassin, and La Ilusión adds layered petal effects and a warm golden pulse on impact. Played maybe 30 games in a row the first week just to see that ult VFX pop in teamfights. The wall stun visual is cleaner than base by a mile.

Recall animation fits the festival theme. Qiyana does this confident dance sequence, very in-character for someone who thinks she’s the best at everything. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but honestly the base voice works fine here. Montse Hernandez already gave Qiyana enough personality to carry any skin.

Release context and the La Ilusión skinline

La Ilusión Qiyana dropped September 27, 2023. Mid-season 13. Augusto Quirino and West Studio handled the splash, and they cooked. The composition captures that festival queen energy perfectly, lots of warm golds and deep teals with Qiyana front and center looking like she owns the entire event.

The La Ilusión line itself is one of Riot’s better thematic experiments. It pulls from Day of the Dead and broader Latin American celebration aesthetics without feeling like a shallow cash grab. Qiyana fits the skinline naturally given her personality. She already acts like royalty, so putting her in a festival queen outfit just makes sense. Gnar and Draven got La Ilusión skins too, but kinda feels like Qiyana is the star of the set.

9 chromas total if you want variety. Amethyst is my personal pick, the purple against gold hits different and reads well in lane. Vivida goes with a hot pink and deep green split thats wild but somehow works. Pearl cleans everything up into an almost ethereal white and teal palette. Could be wrong here but I think Ruby is the weakest of the bunch, it loses some of the original skin’s warmth. (Random aside: the Vivida chroma name is perfect because that skin IS vivid in every sense.)

Is La Ilusión Qiyana worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: this is a top pick for Qiyana mains. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across all abilities, a solid recall, and a theme that actually suits the champion’s personality. Compared to Battle Queen or Shockblade, La Ilusión brings more visual identity. Battle Queen leans generic fantasy, Shockblade is clean but safe.

If you one-trick Qiyana or even just have her in your assassin rotation for mid lane, this belongs in your collection. The VFX clarity on Q elements might actually help your gameplay, I swear the grass Q is easier to track with this skin. Skip it if you dont play Qiyana though, this isnt the kind of skin that makes you want to pick up a new champ. For Qiyana mains specifically? Been daily driving this since season 13 and I keep coming back. Permanent shop, grab it whenever. Straight talk, best executed skin of the La Ilusión set.
