Not gonna lie, when Stargazer Vex showed up on PBE I wasnt expecting much. Vex already has a moody aesthetic baked into her kit, and slapping a celestial theme on the gloomiest yordle in the Rift felt like a weird call. Played about 15 games with it that first week though, and something clicked. The cosmic sadness angle works better than it has any right to.
What the Stargazer skin actually changes
So this is a 1350 RP Epic tier skin, which means new VFX across the board and a fresh recall animation. Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Standard for the price point.
The Q feels completely different visually. Instead of that murky shadow wave you get this deep indigo cosmic blast that trails starlight particles behind it. Looks clean in lane, reads well from the backline in teamfights. Her W is where it gets interesting though. The fear zone pulses with constellation patterns on the ground, and when Shadow marks proc on enemies the pop effect has this satisfying astral burst. Been running this in Diamond for a few months and I think the W ground indicator is actually slightly easier to track than base Vex, which matters when you’re trying to zone during dragon fights.
E sends out a comet-style projectile. Simple change – huge impact on how the ability reads. The gloom mark application has subtle star particles that linger on marked targets. Her ult is the highlight for sure. Vex launches as this streaking celestial body across the map, trailing a galaxy wake behind her. The recast dash into a target keeps that cosmic momentum. Looks gorgeous when you’re diving the backline from fog of war.
Recall animation has her sitting with Shadow while constellations form around them. Kinda feels like they’re stargazing together, which honestly fits Vex’s personality more than most of her skins manage. (Random aside: I screenshot the recall for my desktop wallpaper, the star map detail is nuts.)
The Stargazer line and who made this
Stargazer is one of Riot’s more understated skinlines. No massive universe lore dump, just champions reimagined through a celestial observatory lens. Horace ‘Hozure’ Hsu nailed the splash art. The composition puts Vex in this ethereal space between stars and shadow, and Shadow itself looks like a dark nebula given form. Really captures the duality.
The Stargazer set doesn’t get talked about enough. Could be wrong here but I think it flies under the radar because it launched without a massive event behind it. No pass, no prestige variant, just solid skins dropped into the shop. Vex fits the theme naturally since her whole deal is being gloomy and introspective, and what’s more introspective than staring at the cosmos late at night.
8 chromas total if you want variety. Tanzanite is my personal pick, the deep purple shifts the whole skin into this dark mystical vibe that reads perfectly in bot lane specifically during those level 6 all-ins. Obsidian goes full void-adjacent darkness, and Rose Quartz softens everything into this pastel celestial look that some of my friends in Diamond swear by. Shop has it permanently, grab whenever.
Is Stargazer Vex worth 1350 RP?
Verdict time. For Vex mains this is an easy lock-in. The VFX overhaul genuinely improves ability clarity, the recall is charming without being obnoxious, and the Stargazer theme gives Vex something her other skins dont quite nail: a version of her gloom that feels cosmic and beautiful instead of just edgy.
1350 RP feels fair for what you get. You’re not getting new voice lines or a transforming model, but the particle work carries hard. Played maybe 200 games with this at this point and I keep coming back to it over Dawnbringer and Empyrean. Three things stood out after extended use: ult VFX trail, W ground pattern, and how clean the E projectile reads in chaotic teamfights around Baron pit last season.
If you’re a Vex one-trick or even just someone who pulls her out for mid lane counterpicks, Stargazer is the skin. Maybe just my experience but it feels like the best executed Vex cosmetic in the roster right now. The Tanzanite chroma pushes it even further. Been daily driving this since it dropped and I dont see myself switching anytime soon. Top pick for Vex mains, no question.
