World Champions: 2024 Skins

T1 did it again. Fourth Worlds title for Faker, and Riot dropped a six-skin set that actually does the org justice for once. Been watching Worlds skins since the TPA set back in season 2, and the quality curve on these has been insane. The World Champions 2024 line covers Varus, Gnar, Vi, Sylas, Pyke, and Yone, which is a solid roster that reflects T1's actual playoff picks. Not gonna lie, when I first saw the splashes leak on Reddit around 3 AM on a Tuesday, I thought the Sylas Prestige was fan art. It wasnt.

What Sets the World Champions 2024 Line Apart

Every year Riot has to walk this weird line between honoring the winning team's branding and making skins people actually want to use in ranked. Some years they nail it. Some years you get skins that sit in your collection gathering dust after the novelty wears off. The 2024 set leans hard into T1's red, white, and black color scheme, but there's a level of polish here that puts older Worlds skins to shame.

The shared VFX language across all six skins uses this crystalline red energy effect. Clean stuff. Every ability proc has these sharp geometric particles that shatter outward, and the recall animations all feature the Summoner's Cup in some capacity. Kinda feels like Riot's art team had something to prove after the 2023 set.

What ties the line together visually is the white and silver armor plating with red accents. It reads as "esports royalty" without being tacky about it. The splash arts share a unified background, this dramatic arena-style lighting with T1's logo subtly worked into the composition. Could be wrong here but I think the splashes here are some of the best coordinated group splashes Riot has done for a Worlds set. Each champion's pose feels intentional rather than just "stand here and look cool."

Compare this to something like the 2019 FunPlus Phoenix skins or even the 2022 DRX line. Those were fine. Solid. But the 2024 T1 skins have this premium feel that the older sets just didnt reach. The particle work alone puts them a tier above most Worlds releases. Six skins total, all cohesive, all usable in ranked without feeling like you're wearing a jersey to a formal dinner.

(Random aside: my friend who barely follows pro play bought the Pyke skin purely on aesthetics. That says something.)

Best World Champions 2024 Skins

Prestige T1 Sylas. Full stop. The Mythic tier version takes the base T1 Sylas and cranks everything up. Gold and white color scheme with these iridescent chain effects on his Q and E. Been spamming this in Diamond since it dropped and the chain animations feel smoother than any other Sylas skin I've used. Might be overthinking it but the auto-attack chain swings have a weight to them that base Sylas skins lack.

The hijacked ult visuals deserve their own paragraph. When you steal someone's R with Prestige T1 Sylas, the ability gets this gold-tinted overlay that makes it immediately clear you're running the Prestige version. In teamfights where things get chaotic around dragon pit, that visual clarity actually matters. Not just cosmetic flex.

T1 Yone sits at number two for me. Yone skins live or die on how the E spirit form looks, and this one nails it. The spirit trail leaves these red crystalline shards on the ground. Played maybe 40 games with it last month in solo queue and the Q3 tornado has this satisfying red slash effect that reads well even in messy late-game teamfights. Real talk though, if you're a Yone one-trick you probably already own this.

T1 Pyke rounds out my top three. Support mains, this is for you. The R execute marker on the ground uses T1's red in a way that's almost menacing. Your ADC will thank you for the style points while you're roaming mid at level 6. The hook animation has a clean windup and the camouflage ripple effect in W uses a subtle silver shimmer. Good stuff.

T1 Vi is solid but not spectacular. Honest take. The gauntlet redesign looks great in the splash but in-game at normal camera distance you lose some of the detail. Still a good skin, just not the standout of the set. Her E shockwave has nice red particle work though.

T1 Varus and T1 Gnar sit in a similar spot. Both competent, both clean, neither the reason you'd buy the bundle. Varus Q charge-up has a cool red energy buildup. Gnar's mega form gets the T1 armor treatment which looks properly intimidating in lane. Not sure if it's just me but Gnar's boomerang trail in mini form could be a bit more visible.

The Champion Roster

Six champions. Varus, Gnar, Vi, Sylas, Pyke, Yone. This roster reflects T1's Worlds 2024 playoff compositions and signature picks. Faker's Sylas getting the Prestige treatment feels right. The man has earned it across four World Championships.

Gnar as the top lane pick makes sense. T1's top laner pulling out Gnar in critical matches is the kind of thing that defines a Worlds run. The skin captures that "reliable flex pick" energy. Vi in the jungle slot is interesting because she's not typically associated with T1's brand the way Lee Sin or Viego might be, but she was clearly a priority pick during the tournament.

Pyke support is a spicy choice. Aggressive support pick for a team known for lane kingdom strategies. Fits the narrative. Yone mid rounds things out as the carry threat alongside Varus bot. Could be coping but I think Yone was the right call over something like Azir for the mid slot, purely because Yone skins sell and the VFX potential is higher.

Who's missing? Nobody, really. Worlds skins reflect actual picks, not wishlist champions. That said, a T1 Lee Sin would have been nuts. Maybe next year. (Sidebar: imagine a T1 Faker Ahri skin someday. The internet would implode.)

The thematic fit across all six is strong. None of them feel forced into the T1 aesthetic. Sylas in chains with T1 branding works. Pyke lurking in T1 colors works. Even Gnar, who you'd think might look goofy in esports armor, pulls it off in mega form.

Tier and Price Breakdown

Five Epics at 1350 RP each and one Mythic in Prestige T1 Sylas. Standard Worlds skin pricing for the Epics. Nothing surprising there. The Prestige version requires event currency or Mythic Essence depending on when you're grabbing it.

The Epics all deliver above-average value for 1350. New models, new VFX on all abilities, new recall animations featuring the Summoner's Cup, and shared thematic elements that make the set feel cohesive. No new voice lines on any of the Epics, which is expected. Voice stays default across the board for the 1350 tier.

Prestige T1 Sylas as the lone Mythic carries the premium flag for the set. Gold and white recolor with enhanced particles, border, and the prestige splash treatment. Worth the grind if you main Sylas. Fair warning, if you missed the event window you're looking at Mythic Essence which means patience or spending.

For the full set at 1350 each, five Epics runs you 6750 RP before any bundle discount. Bundle pricing usually shaves 20-30% off. Not cheap, but for a complete Worlds collection from T1's historic fourth title run, mains of these champions wont regret it.

Should You Pick Up the 2024 T1 Set

Depends on your champion pool. Obviously. If you play two or more of these six champions regularly, the bundle is the move. The skins share enough visual DNA that swapping between them in different games feels like repping the same squad. Locked in T1 Pyke for a ranked session last week and then switched to T1 Yone the next day. Both felt like part of the same collection in a way that random skin rotations dont.

For individual purchases, Prestige T1 Sylas is the crown jewel. T1 Yone and T1 Pyke are the next best value. T1 Vi is fine. T1 Varus and T1 Gnar are completionist picks or for dedicated mains of those champions.

The World Champions 2024 line sits comfortably in the upper half of all Worlds skin releases. Not quite the cultural moment of the 2013 SKT set (nostalgia is unbeatable), but in terms of raw skin quality and VFX work, this might be the best Worlds set Riot has produced. Maybe just my experience but I think the art team peaked here.

If you're climbing ranked and want skins that look clean without being distracting, the T1 set delivers. The red and white color scheme reads well on the Rift. Ability VFX are clear without being noisy. And you get to rep the most decorated org in League history. Hard to argue against that.
