World Champions: 2014 Skins

Not gonna lie, the World Champions 2014 set holds a weird spot in my heart. Samsung White absolutely demolished that Worlds tournament and these five skins feel like a genuine snapshot of that dominance. The SSW lineup covers Singed, Twitch, Talon, Rengar, and Thresh, all wearing the Samsung White jersey aesthetic with blue and white color schemes. Five skins total, all Standard tier, priced between 750 and 975 RP. For what they are, they capture the vibe of that roster better than some of the later Worlds sets that had way bigger budgets. Been seeing fewer of these in my ranked games lately, which is kinda sad because the Thresh one especially still holds up.

What Sets World Champions 2014 Apart From Other Worlds Skins

Might be overthinking it but I think the SSW set has a cleaner identity than a lot of the championship skin batches that came after. The design language is straightforward: Samsung White branded uniforms, the team's blue and white palette, and each champion holding or interacting with the Summoner's Cup in their recall animation. No crazy particle overhauls. No legendary voice packs. Just clean team-branded cosmetics that say "this roster won Worlds." Period.

The splash arts across all five skins share a consistent composition style. Each champion is posed against a dark backdrop with blue lighting and the Samsung White logo visible somewhere in the frame. Its a cohesive set visually even if the individual splashes arent exactly wallpaper material by 2026 standards. Compare that to some of the 2022 or 2023 Worlds skins where each splash feels like it belongs to a different skinline entirely.

Color palette is predominantly white jerseys with blue accents. Singed has his shield branded up. Twitch gets the goggles and jersey treatment. Talon's blade work incorporates the blue tones. Rengar's mane goes white and blue. Thresh lantern gets the Samsung treatment. (Random aside: I spent way too long one night comparing every single Worlds skin set side by side and SSW's consistency actually ranked top three for me.) The shared recall animation where they lift the cup ties everything together in a way that later sets sometimes fumbled.

What makes these different from say the SKT sets or the FPX skins is the era they came from. Riot was still figuring out how much effort to put into championship skins in 2015 when these dropped. The result is something understated. No new voice lines, no custom VFX on abilities, just model changes and the recall. Could be wrong here but I think that simplicity is actually what gives them charm now. They feel like actual esports memorabilia rather than themed fantasy skins that happen to reference a team.

Best World Champions 2014 Skins Worth Picking Up

SSW Thresh. Not even close. This is the standout of the entire set and honestly one of the better support skins from that whole era of League. Thresh's model translates perfectly to the Samsung White color scheme. The lantern with the team branding, the white and blue chains, the hood. Played maybe 40 games of Thresh with this skin back in season 6 and it just felt right. Mata was the best support in the world during that tournament run and the skin carries that energy somehow.

Real talk though. Thresh has like 15 skins now and SSW still gets locked in by support mains who remember that Worlds run. Seen it pop up in my Diamond games at least twice this month. The recall animation where he lifts the cup with the lantern is clean. Simple execution but it works.

Second pick is SSW Rengar. The white mane looks sick on Rengar's model and the blue accents on his armor give him this icy predator look that fits the assassin playstyle. Dandy's Rengar during that tournament was genuinely terrifying to watch, the guy would just delete carries off the Rift before anyone could react. Jungle mains who watched season 4 Worlds know exactly what I'm talking about. Locked this in for a stretch of ranked games around season 7 and got compliments on it more than once.

SSW Talon comes in third for me. Talon's blade gets the blue treatment and the jersey model looks natural on him since his silhouette already has that hooded assassin thing going. PawN played Talon in some of those Worlds games and the skin reminds you of mid lane assassin meta when it actually existed. Not the flashiest skin Talon has access to now but its got history behind it.

SSW Twitch is solid. imp was probably the best ADC at that tournament and the Twitch skin captures the ratboy-in-a-jersey energy. The crossbow gets Samsung branding. Model is clean. Not gonna blow anyone's mind in 2026 but ADC mains who respect the legacy pick it up.

SSW Singed is the wildcard. Looper's Singed picks were iconic during that run and seeing Singed in a Samsung White jersey proxy farming top lane is genuinely funny. Kinda feels like the meme pick of the set in the best way possible. Singed one-tricks still run this occasionally and I respect it every time.

The Champion Roster and Who Fits the Theme

Five champions. Singed, Twitch, Talon, Rengar, Thresh. Each one chosen by a Samsung White player to represent their Worlds performance. This is the part of championship skins that always hits different from regular skinlines because the roster isnt curated for thematic coherence. Its curated for historical accuracy.

Thresh fits the aesthetic the best purely by coincidence. His base design with chains and the lantern works with team branding in a way most champions cant match. The support pick was obvious for Mata. Nobody was gonna argue that one.

Rengar and Talon both work as assassin picks that translate well to the jersey-plus-weapon treatment. Been playing a lot of Rengar this season actually and swapping between skins made me appreciate how the SSW model still reads clearly in teamfights despite being a 2015 release. The white mane pops against the Rift's green tones. Good visual clarity for a skin that old.

Singed is the most thematically unexpected but also the most memorable. (Sidebar for top lane mains specifically: imagine proxy farming with the Samsung White shield in your current ranked games. The BM energy is unmatched.) Looper picking Singed at Worlds was already a statement and the skin preserves that forever.

Twitch rounds it out as the ADC representative. Honestly Twitch's model is hard to make look bad in any color scheme and the blue-white combo works fine on him. Not the best Twitch skin by a long shot since he's gotten some bangers since then, but it tells the story it needs to tell.

Fair warning, nobody's getting added to this set. Worlds skins are locked to the five players who chose them. That's the whole point. Samsung White's roster picked these five and thats the complete lineup forever.

Tier and Price Breakdown for the SSW Set

Every single skin in the World Champions 2014 set is Standard tier. All five. Priced between 750 and 975 RP depending on the specific skin. This was before Riot started making Legendary-tier championship skins or adding custom VFX to Worlds releases. You're getting model changes and a shared recall animation. Thats the package.

For the price point though? Hard to complain. 750 to 975 RP for a piece of esports history is reasonable. Not sure if it's just me but I think the Standard tier actually suits these better than if Riot had gone back and given them Epic-level VFX. The simplicity is the point. These are jerseys on champions, not fantasy reimaginings.

No chromas on any of them. No prestige editions. No event passes tied to them. They dropped in 2015, sat in the shop for a while, and now they rotate through availability. Been checking periodically and most of them are still accessible either through the shop or Legacy vault depending on when you're looking. The pricing hasnt changed since release which means adjusted for RP inflation these are actually cheaper relative to what you'd pay for a comparable skin today.

Compare this to the 2022 or 2023 Worlds sets where the Legendary tier skin alone costs 1820 RP. The entire SSW set costs less combined than two modern Epic skins. Volume play for collectors honestly. Spammed the shop page last Tuesday looking for SSW Thresh specifically and it was sitting right there at 975 RP. Instant lock-in.

Standard tier means no new voice lines across any of the five. Base VO on all of them. No custom death animations, no unique emotes. The recall is the only shared special animation. For ranked grinders who dont care about cosmetic bells and whistles and just want to represent Samsung White's legacy on the Rift, the tier is fine. You're not buying these for the particle effects. You're buying them because DanDy's Rengar haunts your nightmares from season 4 Worlds or because Mata's Thresh hooks were the cleanest thing you'd ever seen in competitive League.
