Warden Skins

Warden is one of those skinlines that flew under the radar for most people and I think thats kind of the point. Six skins deep, spread across 2015 to 2021, all locked into this heavy stone-and-metal guardian aesthetic. Think ancient sentinels carved from mountain rock, glowing runes, teal and gold highlights. Not flashy. Not trying to be. I've had Warden Nautilus in my rotation since season 8 and honestly the whole line just feels like Riot made armor sets for a fantasy RPG and dropped them into the Rift. Some champions wear it better than others but when Warden hits, it hits clean.

What Makes the Warden Line Stand Out

The visual signature here is stone. Cold, heavy, ancient stone with runic engravings and metallic trim. Every Warden skin shares this palette of slate grey, teal accents, and warm gold detailing on the armor pieces. Could be wrong here but I think Riot was going for a "living statue" vibe across the entire set. The champions look like they were carved from the same quarry and then enchanted to fight.

Particle effects on the Epics keep the stone theme going. Warden Gragas has this satisfying weight to his abilities where you can almost feel the rock grinding. The Standard tier skins are model-and-texture only, no new VFX, which is expected at the 750 RP price point. Base voice lines across the board. No VO refresh on any of them.

What ties the line together is restraint. Not gonna lie, in a game where half the skins are shooting lasers and sparkles everywhere, Warden just commits to the stone guardian fantasy without overselling it. The splash arts all share this similar composition: champion standing guard in some ancient ruin, warm backlighting, crumbling architecture in the background. Consistent. (Random aside: the Warden Karma splash has been my desktop background at work for like two years and nobody has noticed its from a video game.)

Compared to something like Arclight which goes full divine gold energy, Warden stays grounded. Literally. The color palette reads darker, more utilitarian. If Arclight champions are the angels, Warden champions are the temple guards who stayed behind after everyone else left. There's a weight to the aesthetic that I appreciate when everything else in my skin collection is trying to blind me with particle effects.

The skinline sits in this weird space where it's not popular enough for Riot to keep expanding but not bad enough for anyone to complain about. Six skins over six years. Slow drip. Real talk though, the consistency is what makes browsing the Warden page satisfying. You know exactly what you're getting before you even click on a specific skin.

Best Warden Skins Worth Your RP

Warden Gragas takes the top spot and its not even close. Epic tier, 1350 RP, and probably the best thematic fit in the entire line. Big dude. Stone armor. Giant stone barrel. The fantasy writes itself. Played maybe 40 games with it last season in Diamond and the ability VFX have this satisfying crunch to them. His Q rolling across the lane looks like a boulder tumbling downhill. Body Slam feels heavier somehow. Might be overthinking it but the skin just makes Gragas feel more impactful than base.

The recall animation seals it. He's basically doing this strongman pose while runes light up around him. Fits the champion perfectly. If you play Gragas at all, this or Hillbilly are your two real options for skins that actually match his energy. Warden wins on pure aesthetic though.

Warden Quinn comes in second. Also Epic tier at 1350 RP. Quinn is a weird champion to fit into the stone guardian theme but they pulled it off. Valor gets the full stone treatment too which I wasnt expecting. The bird looks like a gargoyle come to life. Her abilities have the teal particle effects and the R transformation feels properly dramatic with the stone VFX kicking in.

Warden Nautilus at Standard tier is honestly underrated. 750 RP, just a model swap, but Nautilus already looks like a walking statue in half his skins so the Warden aesthetic is basically his default energy. Been running this in my support games since around season 9 I think. The anchor redesign alone is worth the price. Looks like something you'd pull out of a cathedral wall.

Warden Jax is solid. Nothing spectacular. Standard tier. The lamppost becomes this stone pillar thing which is funny and thematic at the same time. Good value at 750 RP if you're a Jax main who wants something different from the usual martial arts skins he gets.

Warden Karma and Warden Sivir round out the set. Both Standard, both fine. Karma's floating stones around her look cool but she has so many better skin options that its hard to recommend Warden specifically. Sivir gets a stone boomerang that reads well in lane. Functional skins, not exciting ones.

The Warden Champion Roster

Six champions. Small lineup. Sivir, Jax, Karma, Gragas, Nautilus, Quinn. Kinda feels like Riot picked half of these from a hat and the other half because they actually fit the armor-guardian theme.

Nautilus is the most natural fit. Dude is already a lumbering tank in a diving suit. Put stone armor on him and he barely looks different from a design standpoint. That's a compliment. The theme reads instantly. Gragas works because the big body type sells the "immovable guardian" fantasy well. Jax holding a stone pillar instead of a lamppost is peak thematic alignment too.

Quinn is the surprise pick that actually works. A scout with a stone bird feels contradictory on paper but the execution is clean. She looks like a falconer from some ancient order. Props to whoever pitched that one. (Sidebar: Quinn mains are so starved for good skins that literally anything Riot gives them gets appreciated, I had a Quinn one-trick in my ranked games last Tuesday night who told me Warden Quinn is her third most-used skin.)

Karma feels forced. Not sure if it's just me but the serene mage in heavy stone armor doesnt quite click. She has better options in her catalog. Sivir is fine, she can wear anything because her silhouette is so distinct with the crossblade.

Who should Riot add next? Galio. Obvious pick. He's literally a stone sentinel in his base design. Malphite would work but might be too on-the-nose. Braum with a stone shield? Take my RP. Poppy with a stone hammer. Come on Riot. The tank roster is begging for Warden skins and instead they keep making star guardian content. Fair warning, I will keep saying this in every skinline discussion until they give Braum a proper stone-themed skin.

Tier and Price Breakdown

The split is straightforward. Four Standard tier skins at 750 RP each and two Epics at 1350 RP. No Legendaries. No Mythics. No Prestige editions. Warden is a budget-friendly skinline which honestly fits the no-nonsense aesthetic. Stone guardians dont need to be flashy.

The Epics carry the line. Gragas and Quinn both justify 1350 RP with new particles, new recall animations, and model changes that go beyond just a texture swap. The four Standards are model-only at 750 RP which is the old pricing tier Riot doesnt really use anymore for new releases. You can tell these are older skins from the 2015 era.

Total investment if you wanted every Warden skin: 5700 RP. Thats less than three Legendary skins. Pretty affordable for a complete collection and I think thats part of the appeal for skin collectors who want to check off entire lines. Maybe just my experience but I see more people running complete cheaper skinlines than having one Legendary from ten different sets. The value proposition is real here, especially for the Standards.

Real talk though, Riot hasnt touched this skinline since 2021. The last addition was Warden Quinn and before that it was Gragas and Nautilus in 2019. Could be wrong here but I dont think we're getting new Warden skins anytime soon. The line feels complete at six. Not every skinline needs twenty entries. Sometimes a tight roster of six with good thematic consistency beats a bloated line of fifteen where half the champions dont fit.

If you're picking and choosing, the priority order is Gragas first, Quinn second, Nautilus third. The other three are "nice to have" tier. Spammed Gragas in ranked around March this year and the skin just performs well visually even in messy teamfights. The stone effects read clean against most Rift backgrounds.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Warden skins are there?

Six Warden skins total as of 2024. The lineup covers Sivir, Jax, Karma, Gragas, Nautilus, and Quinn. Riot started the line back in 2015 and the last addition was Quinn in 2021. Small roster but tight thematic consistency across all six. Not expecting more anytime soon honestly.

What is the best Warden skin?

Warden Gragas. Epic tier at 1350 RP with new VFX, recall animation, and a model that sells the stone guardian fantasy perfectly. Been running it in my ranked games and the ability effects have this weight to them that base Gragas doesnt have. Quinn is a close second if you main her.

Which champions have Warden skins?

Sivir, Jax, Karma, Gragas, Nautilus, and Quinn. Nautilus and Gragas fit the stone armor theme best in my opinion. Quinn is a surprising pick that actually works well. Karma feels a bit forced compared to the rest but the skin is still decent at 750 RP.

Does the Warden skinline have Legendary skins?

No Legendaries in the Warden line. The highest tier is Epic with Gragas and Quinn at 1350 RP each. The other four are Standard at 750 RP. Honestly a Legendary Warden skin would be incredible but I dont think Riot considers this line popular enough to invest at that level.

When did the Warden skinline release?

First batch dropped in 2015 with Sivir, Jax, and Karma. Then Gragas and Nautilus came in 2019. Quinn was the last addition in 2021. Spread across six years which is a slow rollout even by Riot standards. The line grew gradually rather than launching all at once.

Are Warden skins worth buying?

The two Epics are solid purchases if you play those champions. Gragas especially. The Standards at 750 RP are cheap enough that theres no reason to overthink it. Whole collection runs 5700 RP total. Good value for completionists. Not gonna lie though, if you only main one of these champs they probably have flashier options.

Do Warden skins have chromas?

Limited chroma support in this line. The Epics picked up some chromas but the older Standard skins from 2015 didnt get any. Riot wasnt doing chromas as aggressively back then. If chromas are a big deal for you, Gragas and Quinn are the ones to look at.

Will Riot make more Warden skins?

Probably not anytime soon. Last skin was 2021 and Riot hasnt mentioned Warden in any roadmaps I've seen. The line feels complete at six. Could be wrong but there's a dozen more popular skinlines competing for development resources. Would love to see Warden Galio or Braum though. A man can dream.
