Rain Shepherd Skins
All 4 skins in the Rain Shepherd skinline. Browse splash art, chromas, and detailed reviews for every Rain Shepherd skin in League of Legends.
Rain Shepherd is one of those skinlines that flew under the radar for most people in 2024. Four skins, all Epic, all 1350 RP, and a cozy pastoral aesthetic that feels like Riot decided to make a Ghibli film inside League. Not gonna lie, when I first saw the splash arts drop I thought it was a fan concept. The soft watercolor tones, the shepherd crooks, rain effects on abilities - it reads like someone on the art team had a very specific vision and just ran with it. Played all four in ranked and I have opinions.

The visual identity here is rain. Sounds obvious but Riot committed to it in a way they dont always do with skinlines. Every ability across the four champions has this soft blue-grey particle effect that looks like falling water. The recall animations all feature some version of standing in a gentle downpour with pastoral elements around them. Sheep, lanterns, meadow flowers. Its a quiet skinline in a game full of explosions and neon.
Color palette sits in muted blues, soft greens, and warm cream tones. Think overcast sky meets English countryside. The splash arts share a consistent lighting direction that makes the set feel cohesive when you see them side by side. Could be wrong here but I think Riot's been getting better at this lately. Compare Rain Shepherd to something like the early Arcade skins where half the splashes looked like different artists working in different rooms.
What ties it together most is the fabric textures. Every champion in the line wears layered cloth - cloaks, hoods, wraps. The in-game models actually show fabric movement during abilities which is a nice touch for 1350 RP skins. Not Legendary-level animation work obviously, but the capes and scarves react to movement in a way that gives the whole line a floaty quality.
(Random sidebar: the ambient rain sound effect during recall is genuinely relaxing. I've caught myself just letting the recall play out in practice tool.)
Compared to something like Elderwood which goes heavy on the fantasy nature angle, Rain Shepherd keeps things grounded. No giant antlers or magical tree spirits. Just shepherds in the rain. Simple concept executed cleanly. The VFX read well in teamfights too, nothing gets lost in the chaos which is more than I can say for half the Epic skins Riot puts out.
Best Rain Shepherd Skins Worth Locking In
Gwen takes the top spot for me. Full stop. The scissors-to-shepherd-shears visual translation is brilliant. Her Q snips through with this misty blue trail and the W zone looks like a protective rain bubble. Been spamming this in Diamond since about two weeks after it dropped and the animations feel smoother than base Gwen somehow. Might be placebo but the auto-attack rhythm with the shears just hits different.
Milio in second place. Kinda feels like this skinline was designed around him honestly. A support champion who heals and shields, dressed as a shepherd protecting his flock? The thematic fit is perfect. His Q sends out a little rain cloud projectile and the ult creates this expanding circle of rainfall that cleanses. Played maybe 40 games of Rain Shepherd Milio in ranked last season and my duo ADC said the heal VFX are easier to notice than base, which matters for lane coordination.
Fizz is the surprise pick. A fish champion as a rain shepherd sounds forced on paper. In practice it works because they leaned into the puddle and rain aesthetic rather than trying to make Fizz look like an actual shepherd. His E creates a splash zone that looks like jumping into a puddle, the shark ult summons this massive wave instead. Real talk though, the playful trickster vibe of Fizz meshes with the lighthearted skinline energy better than I expected.
Tristana rounds out the four and she's solid but not spectacular. The cannon gets reskinned as a shepherd's staff launcher thing. Looks fine. The W jump leaves a rain splash on landing which is a nice detail. But compared to how well Gwen and Milio fit the theme, Tristana feels like the "we need a marksman for the set" pick. Not bad by any means, just less inspired.
If I had to rank them: Gwen, Milio, Fizz, Tristana. Though honestly the gap between first and last isnt that big. Solid set overall.
Champion Roster and Who Fits the Theme
Four champions total. Small roster. Tristana, Fizz, Gwen, and Milio. For a 2024 skinline release this is pretty standard. Riot drops these smaller thematic batches all the time now instead of the old approach where a skinline might get eight champions at once.
Milio is the most natural fit. Been saying this since the reveal and I'll keep saying it. A boy who tends to others, warm and protective, in a pastoral rain setting. The design team barely had to stretch the concept. His kit is about shielding and healing which maps perfectly to the shepherd protecting the flock metaphor. One-tricks for Milio probably already own this.
Gwen works because of the scissors connection. Shepherds shear sheep. Gwen has scissors. The logic writes itself and the execution delivers. Maybe just my experience but Gwen mains in my ranked games seem to run this skin more than Cafe Cuties which was the popular pick before.
Fizz benefits from the rain and water angle. Not a shepherd in any traditional sense but the aquatic connection to rainfall gives the skin enough thematic justification. Could be coping but I think the playful energy of Fizz actually adds personality to what could be a too-serious skinline without him.
Tristana is fine. She works as the ranged carry of the group and the staff-cannon is creative enough. But if I were picking a fourth champion for a rain shepherd theme? Nami would have been the obvious choice. Or Ivern. Imagine Ivern as a shepherd with Daisy as a giant sheep. Riot missed that one.
(Unrelated but I really hope they revisit this line with a Legendary for someone. The aesthetic deserves it.)
Tier and Price Breakdown for Rain Shepherd
Every skin in the line is Epic tier at 1350 RP. No Legendaries, no Mythics, no budget options. Clean and simple. You know exactly what you're getting with each one: new model, new VFX, new recall animation, new SFX. Voice lines stay base for all four which is standard at this price point.
At 1350 RP per skin the full set runs you 5400 RP if you want all four. Not cheap. Fair warning, unless you actively play all four champions theres no reason to collect the whole set. Better to grab the one or two that match your champion pool and move on. I picked up Gwen and Milio because those are my flex picks for ranked. Sitting at maybe 120 games between the two since purchase.
The Epic tier carries this skinline. No weak entry drags it down like you see with some lines where the 975 RP skin feels like an afterthought. Every Rain Shepherd skin got the same level of attention. Equal VFX quality, equal model detail, equal splash art treatment. That consistency is rare and worth noting. Some skinlines have one Legendary that's amazing and three Epics that feel like filler. Rain Shepherd doesn't have that problem because everything sits at the same tier.
Price feels fair across the board. 1350 RP is standard Epic pricing and each skin delivers standard Epic value. Nothing here screams "overpriced" and nothing feels like a steal either. Straight down the middle.
Rain Shepherd Skinline FAQ
How many Rain Shepherd skins are there?
Four Rain Shepherd skins total as of 2024. Tristana, Fizz, Gwen, and Milio all got the treatment. Every one of them is Epic tier at 1350 RP. Compact roster but honestly the quality is consistent across all four which you cant always say about bigger skinlines. Been hoping Riot expands it but no announcements yet.
What is the best Rain Shepherd skin?
Rain Shepherd Gwen takes it for me. The scissors-to-shears concept is perfect and the VFX hit clean in ranked games. Milio is a close second because the shepherd theme fits his kit like a glove. Played both extensively in Diamond and Gwen's skin just feels better in practice. The auto-attack animations sold me.
Which champions have Rain Shepherd skins?
Tristana, Fizz, Gwen, and Milio. Small roster of four. Gwen and Milio fit the theme best in my opinion. Fizz works through the rain and water angle. Tristana is solid but feels like the least natural pick of the group. All released in 2024 as a single batch.
Does Rain Shepherd have Legendary skins?
No Legendaries in Rain Shepherd. All four skins sit at Epic tier, 1350 RP each. That means no new voice lines or unique animations beyond the standard Epic package. Honestly think this line deserves a Legendary eventually. Milio or Gwen would be the ideal candidates for the upgrade if Riot revisits it.
When did the Rain Shepherd skinline release?
Rain Shepherd dropped in 2024. All four skins came out together as one batch. Relatively recent line that hasn't had a second wave yet. The pastoral rain aesthetic was a fresh direction for Riot that year and it landed well with the community from what I saw on the subreddit and in my games.
Are Rain Shepherd skins worth buying?
If you main any of the four champions then yes, absolutely worth the 1350 RP. Gwen and Milio especially deliver above average for their price point. Not gonna lie, if you dont play these champions theres no reason to grab them just for collection purposes. But for mains? Easy buy. The VFX quality is consistently good across the whole set.
Do Rain Shepherd skins have chromas?
Check the individual skin pages for chroma counts since availability varies per champion. Standard Epic skins at 1350 RP usually get a chroma set at launch. The base Rain Shepherd color palette is already strong with those muted blues and creams so chromas need to work hard to compete with the default look in my experience.
Will Riot make more Rain Shepherd skins?
No official word from Riot yet. The line only has four skins which leaves plenty of room for expansion. Ivern as a shepherd with Daisy reskinned as a giant sheep is the dream pick for a lot of players. Nami would also fit the rain theme naturally. Might be overthinking it but the positive community reception makes a second wave plausible sometime in 2025 or 2026.
