Order of the Lotus Skins

Order of the Lotus is one of those skinlines that flew under the radar for most people, and honestly I think thats a shame. Two skins, both Standard tier, both built around this serene Eastern aesthetic with lotus motifs and flowing silks. Irelia and Karma. That's the whole roster. Not gonna lie, when I first saw Order of the Lotus Irelia back in 2014 I thought it was a custom skin someone made in their spare time. Not because it looked bad, but because it felt too specific, too niche for Riot to actually ship. The kind of thing a champion main commissions on DeviantArt. Clean lotus petal visuals, soft pinks and golds, a calm energy that stands out on the Rift where everything else is explosions and dark magic.

What Makes Order of the Lotus Stand Out

Two skins. That's it. Order of the Lotus never got the massive roster treatment like Star Guardian or PROJECT. Could be wrong here but I think that's actually part of its charm. There's no filler. No "we need to hit 12 champions this event" energy. Just Irelia and Karma, two champions who genuinely fit the lotus aesthetic without forcing it.

The visual signature is soft pinks, gold trim, and lotus petal accents woven into abilities and character models. Neither skin has new voice lines or animation overhauls because they're both Standard tier, priced at 750 and 975 RP respectively. What you get is a texture and model update that shifts both champions into this peaceful warrior monk fantasy. Think martial arts temple vibes but specifically the kind of temple surrounded by lotus ponds.

Color palette runs warm. Pinks dominate, but not the aggressive hot pink you see on stuff like Heartseeker skins. More of a dusty rose, almost muted. Gold accents keep it from looking washed out. The splashes lean into traditional East Asian art composition, lots of flowing fabric and deliberate poses. (Random aside: I used Order of the Lotus Karma as my desktop wallpaper for like three months in season 5, the splash is genuinely that good for a 975 RP skin.)

Compared to similar "Eastern" skinlines like Lunar Revel or Shan Hai Scrolls, Order of the Lotus is way more restrained. No dragons. No fireworks. No over-the-top mythological creatures. Just the lotus motif, clean and focused. Kinda feels like Riot's art team had a specific vision, executed it on two champions, and moved on. Whether that's a good thing depends on how you feel about small curated lines versus massive event releases.

The shared VFX elements are minimal since both are Standard skins. You're not getting the particle overhaul that a 1350 RP Epic would deliver. But the model changes do enough. Irelia's blades pick up the petal theme, Karma's outfit trades her default look for something that reads more like a temple priestess. Simple changes, but they land.

Best Order of the Lotus Skins

With only two skins this section feels almost silly. But real talk though, there is a clear winner here.

Order of the Lotus Karma is the better skin. Full stop. Released in 2015 at 975 RP, it nails the thematic connection between Karma's existing identity as a spiritual leader and the lotus aesthetic. The outfit redesign feels natural, like this could have been her base skin in an alternate universe. Her mantle gets replaced with flowing pink and gold robes, and the overall silhouette reads cleaner than a lot of her other options. Been running this in my support games on and off since season 6. Not my main Karma skin anymore because I picked up Ruined Karma eventually, but Order of the Lotus held that spot for a long time.

Might be overthinking it but the splash art carries a lot of weight here. Karma meditating among lotus blossoms, the composition is tight, and whoever painted it understood the assignment. For 975 RP in 2015, you were getting solid value.

Order of the Lotus Irelia is the other one. 750 RP, released 2014. Pre-rework Irelia, which means the model is working with older geometry. After the 2018 rework the skin got updated to match new Irelia, and honestly it looks decent on the new model. The petal motif on her blades works well with reworked Irelia's floating blade fantasy. Her Q resets in lane feel satisfying with the updated model, and the lotus aesthetic pairs nicely with the dancer-warrior direction Riot took her rework.

That said, Irelia has SO many skins now. Divine Sword, Sentinel, Mythmaker, the list keeps going. Order of the Lotus gets lost in the shuffle. It's a fine skin at 750 RP but you're competing against skins that have full VFX overhauls, new animations, the works. Not sure if it's just me but I see maybe one Order of the Lotus Irelia per season in my Diamond games. Everyone's running iG Irelia or Divine Sword.

If I had to rank them: Karma first, Irelia second. Not controversial when its a two-skin line.

The Champion Roster

Irelia and Karma. That's the complete Order of the Lotus roster and it hasnt grown since 2015. Nine years without a new addition. Fair warning, this is one of the smallest skinlines Riot has ever done, tied with a handful of other two-skin lines that never expanded.

Both champions make sense thematically. Karma is Ionian, spiritual, already connected to inner peace and enlightenment. The lotus fits her like a glove. Irelia is Ionian too, a blade dancer, martial discipline meets grace. Together they represent two sides of the same coin: the monk and the warrior. Temple vibes all around.

Who should get the next Order of the Lotus skin? Assuming Riot ever revisits this line, and honestly I doubt they will. But if they did. Shen feels obvious. Ionian, disciplined, spiritual protector. The lotus ninja basically writes itself. Lee Sin is another natural fit since his whole fantasy is already the martial arts monk archetype. Syndra could work too, dark lotus corruption angle, the fallen student of the temple or whatever.

(Sidebar for Irelia mains specifically: if you're choosing between this and Aviator Irelia as your budget pick, Order of the Lotus wins every time. Aviator is cool in a retro way but the lotus aesthetic actually enhances the blade dancer fantasy.)

Honestly the roster being this small is both the skinline's biggest weakness and oddly part of its identity. Two champions, both Ionian, both thematically perfect. No filler picks. No "we gave Ezreal another skin because he sells" additions. Pure thematic integrity, even if it means the line never grew.

Tier and Price Breakdown

Both Order of the Lotus skins sit in Standard tier. Irelia at 750 RP, Karma at 975 RP. No Epics. No Legendaries. No Mythics. Budget line through and through.

At these price points you're getting model and texture changes only. Voice lines stay base for both champions. No new recall animations at the 750 tier, though Karma's 975 version might have minor additions depending on when you check the wiki because Riot has quietly updated some older skins over the years. Played maybe 200 games with Karma's and I honestly cant tell you if the recall changed or if I'm imagining things.

The value proposition is actually decent though. 750 for Irelia is pocket change by modern RP standards. That's less than a single chroma costs on newer skins. And 975 for Karma puts it below the Epic threshold while still delivering a noticeable visual upgrade. Neither skin has chromas, which makes sense given their age. Riot didn't start the chroma program aggressively until later.

For comparison, a modern Epic skin runs 1350 RP and a Legendary hits 1820. Order of the Lotus exists in that older era of LoL cosmetics where Standard tier skins were the bread and butter. You weren't paying for new particles or voice lines. You were paying for a different outfit. Different era of the game entirely. Season 4 and 5, back when 975 RP felt like a real purchase and the shop wasn't flooded with 1350+ skins every patch cycle.

Not gonna lie, I kind of miss when 750-975 RP skins were the norm. Simple. Clean. You knew what you were getting. No "is this worth 1350 or should I wait for a sale" mental gymnastics. Order of the Lotus Irelia is 750 RP. You either like the lotus look or you dont. Done.

The Quiet Legacy of a Tiny Skinline

Order of the Lotus dropped its first skin in 2014 and its second in 2015. Then nothing. Absolute radio silence for nine plus years. Real talk though, a lot of smaller skinlines from that era got the same treatment. Riot shifted toward big event lines: Star Guardian, PROJECT, Spirit Blossom. The small two-to-three skin collections became relics.

I remember seeing Order of the Lotus Irelia in loading screens back in late season 4. This was before the rework, old Irelia with the point-and-click stun. Different champion entirely. The skin looked good on old Irelia's model, and when the rework hit in 2018 it translated surprisingly well to the new design. The floating blades with lotus petal accents? Works better on reworked Irelia than it did on the original honestly.

Karma's version came a year later, 2015. I was climbing through Platinum at the time, spamming Karma mid before people remembered she was actually a support. Order of the Lotus Karma in mid lane, throwing empowered Qs at people who didn't respect her poke range. Good times. The skin felt fresh back then because Karma didn't have many options. Now she has Traditional, Sakura, Sun Goddess, a bunch of choices. But Order of the Lotus still holds up visually.

The skinline sits in the shop permanently. Both skins available any time, no Legacy vault nonsense. You can grab either one right now for under 1000 RP. Maybe just my experience but I think these are genuinely underrated budget picks. Not every skin needs to be a 1820 RP Legendary with 15 minutes of new voice lines. Sometimes you just want your champion to look different, and a lotus-themed outfit at 750-975 RP does the job without draining your wallet.

Will Riot ever add to this line? Probably not. They've got bigger event skinlines to feed. But if you're an Irelia or Karma main looking for something clean, understated, and thematically tight, Order of the Lotus delivers. Small roster. No legendary headliner. Just two solid Standard skins from the early-to-mid 2010s that still look good on the modern Rift. Thats enough sometimes.
