Omen of the Dark is one of those skinlines that Riot quietly built over six years and then just stopped touching. Not gonna lie, I have a soft spot for it. The whole vibe is medieval horror mixed with dark fantasy executioner aesthetics, and most of these skins dropped back when League was still figuring out what a "skinline" even meant. Eight skins total, running from 2010 all the way to 2016, and every single one leans into this grimy cursed-knight look that I think holds up better than people give it credit for. Been running a few of these in ranked and they still turn heads.

What Makes Omen of the Dark Stand Out

Kinda feels like Riot took every dark medieval trope they could find and threw it at the wall. Iron masks, tattered capes, cursed weaponry, spectral energy. The color palette stays locked into blacks, dark silvers, and sickly greens across most of the line. No bright neon nonsense. No anime sparkles. Just straight oppressive atmosphere.

The shared visual DNA here is subtle because these skins released across such a long window. Spectral Fiddlesticks came out in 2010 when skin design was basically "recolor the model and ship it." Blade Queen Lissandra dropped in 2015 with actual model work and VFX tweaks. So there's a visible quality gap if you line them all up. But the thematic thread holds. Every champion in the line looks like they crawled out of some cursed dungeon underneath the Rift.

Compared to something like Coven or Death Sworn, Omen of the Dark is less polished but more grounded. Coven goes full witch-goddess fantasy with heavy particle effects. Omen keeps things gritty. (Random aside: I think thats why it resonates with players who started in seasons 1 through 3, the whole game had that darker tone back then.) The splash arts across the line share a muted, painterly quality that I honestly prefer over some of the hyper-rendered stuff Riot pumps out now.

No new voice lines on any of these. Voice stays default across the board. Standard stuff for skins from this era. The visual changes carry the weight, and for 520 to 1350 RP you're not expecting VO work anyway.

Best Omen of the Dark Skins

Real talk though. Blade Queen Lissandra is the crown jewel here and its not even close. Only Epic tier skin in the entire line at 1350 RP, and it earns it. The model rework gives Lissandra this full armored dark queen look with bladed gauntlets. Her Q ice shard gets a darker tint, the W ring looks more menacing. Played maybe 40 games with it last season in Diamond and the skin just reads better in teamfights than her base. You can actually track her abilities in a chaotic engage which, if you've ever tried to peel against a Lissandra in a five-man pile, you know matters.

Spectral Fiddlesticks sits at second for me. Could be wrong here but I think its one of the most underrated Fiddlesticks skins period. The ghostly green recolor on his model gives the scarecrow fantasy a whole new layer. 520 RP. Dirt cheap. Been locking this in over Surprise Party some nights just because the vibe matches how Fiddlesticks actually plays. You're lurking in bushes, you ult out of fog of war, you terrify the backline. Spectral sells that horror better than the clown suit.

Iron Inquisitor Kayle is a sleeper pick. Released 2016, one of the last Omen skins Riot made. The iron mask and dark armor combo on Kayle pre-rework was fantastic. Post-rework it still holds up visually. Not sure if it's just me but the auto attack animations feel slightly different with this skin on. Probably placebo. Still, for 750 RP, solid value if you main Kayle and want something darker than Aether Wing.

Grey Warwick deserves a mention even though most people know it from the honor reward system, not from buying it in shop. The desaturated wolf aesthetic fits Omen of the Dark perfectly. Had this skin back when it was exclusive honor level 5 reward. Felt like a badge. Now its more accessible but still carries that old-school prestige.

Black Scourge Singed rounds out my top picks. The plague doctor meets dark knight look on Singed is chef's kiss. Running around the Rift with poison trail while looking like a medieval bioweapon specialist. Honestly not gonna lie, I've gotten more compliments on this skin in lobby chat than on skins that cost three times as much.

The Champion Roster

Eight champions total. The lineup reads like Riot's "creepy champ" shortlist from early League. Fiddlesticks was an obvious pick. Scarecrow plus dark medieval horror is free real estate. Nocturne fits naturally too, Cursed Revenant Nocturne plays into his nightmare assassin kit perfectly. Yorick with Undertaker is almost too on the nose but it works. These three feel like they were designed for this skinline.

Then you have the ones that surprised me. Lissandra joining in 2015 elevated the whole line. She brought the first real quality skin to the group. Kayle worked better than I expected. The inquisitor angle gave her this religious zealot flavor that contrasted nicely with her usual angelic vibe.

Dr. Mundo as Executioner Mundo is fine. Not amazing. Fits the theme on paper but Mundo's goofy proportions kind of undercut the horror vibe. Singed and Warwick both nail it though. Could be coping but I think the line would benefit from a modern addition. Imagine Omen of the Dark Viego. Or Thresh. Riot hasnt touched this line since 2016 which is criminal considering how well dark fantasy sells in this game. (Sidebar: Coven basically took the market share that Omen of the Dark should have owned.)

The roster skews toward older champions which makes sense given the 2010-2016 release window. No marksmen, no enchanters. All bruisers, mages, and one assassin. Heavy on top lane and jungle representation.

Tier and Price Breakdown

Seven Standard tier skins. One Epic. That ratio tells you everything about when this line was active. Back in 2010 through 2014, Standard was the default. 520 to 975 RP got you a model recolor or minor texture swap and that was the whole skin. No chromas, no border, no event pass integration.

Blade Queen Lissandra at 1350 RP is the only one with real production value. New model geometry, adjusted VFX, updated splash. The Standards range from 520 (Spectral Fiddlesticks, Executioner Mundo) up to 975 (Black Scourge Singed, Iron Inquisitor Kayle). Most of these are permanently available in shop. Grey Warwick is the exception, originally an honor reward.

Price-wise this is one of the cheapest full skinlines in the game. Total cost to own everything is under 6000 RP. Compare that to something like Star Guardian where a single Legendary costs 1820. Omen of the Dark is budget dark fantasy and I think thats part of its charm. You're not paying Legendary prices. You're getting solid thematic skins at standard rates. Fair price for the package across the board.

Might be overthinking it but I think Riot missed an opportunity by never making an Omen of the Dark Legendary. A full VO rework with dark medieval voice lines on someone like Fiddlesticks post-rework would have been incredible. Instead the line capped at Epic and got shelved. Shame.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Omen of the Dark skins are there?

Eight skins total in the Omen of the Dark line. Riot released them between 2010 and 2016 across eight different champions. Been a while since the last one dropped though. Six years of releases and then radio silence, which I think most players have noticed by now. The line feels complete but also abandoned at the same time.

What is the best Omen of the Dark skin?

Blade Queen Lissandra by a wide margin. Only Epic in the line and the production quality shows. Model changes, darker VFX on her kit, clean splash art. Spammed this in ranked last season and it just reads well in lane and teamfights. Spectral Fiddlesticks is second if you want budget horror on the Rift.

Which champions have Omen of the Dark skins?

Fiddlesticks, Kayle, Warwick, Singed, Dr. Mundo, Nocturne, Yorick, and Lissandra. Heavy on the creepy older champs. No ADCs or enchanters in the lineup. Mostly top and jungle mains will find something here. Real talk, Nocturne and Fiddlesticks fit the theme best out of the whole roster.

Does Omen of the Dark have Legendary skins?

No Legendaries. The highest tier in the line is Epic with Blade Queen Lissandra at 1350 RP. Everything else is Standard tier ranging from 520 to 975 RP. Honestly a missed opportunity. A Legendary Omen of the Dark Fiddlesticks with full VO would have been something special. Maybe someday.

When did the Omen of the Dark skinline release?

First skin dropped in 2010 with Spectral Fiddlesticks and the last one was 2016. Six year run. The line grew slowly, one or two skins per year, nothing like the batch releases Riot does now with event passes and prestige editions. Old school rollout for an old school skinline.

Are Omen of the Dark skins worth buying?

For the price? Yeah. Most of these cost 520 to 975 RP which is nothing. Blade Queen Lissandra at 1350 is the premium pick and earns it. If you main any of the eight champions and want a darker aesthetic without spending Legendary money, Omen of the Dark delivers. Just dont expect modern VFX polish on the Standards.

Do Omen of the Dark skins have chromas?

Most of them don't. These skins predate the chroma system for the most part. A couple have picked up chromas over the years through various Riot updates, but the line wasnt designed with chromas in mind. You're getting the base skin color and thats it for most of them. Check individual skin pages for current chroma availability.

Will Riot make more Omen of the Dark skins?

No announcements as of early 2026. The line hasnt gotten a new skin since 2016 which is a decade gap at this point. Take this with a grain of salt but I think Coven essentially replaced Omen of the Dark as Riot's go-to dark fantasy line. Would love to be wrong. A modern Epic or Legendary addition could revive the whole set.
