Mecha Kingdoms Skins
All 9 skins in the Mecha Kingdoms skinline. Browse splash art, chromas, and detailed reviews for every Mecha Kingdoms skin in League of Legends.
Mecha Kingdoms hit the Rift in January 2020 and honestly it caught me off guard. Giant mech suits inspired by ancient Chinese dynasties, piloted by champions who already had that warrior energy. Not gonna lie, first time I saw the trailer I thought it was gonna be another generic mecha line like the older Mecha skins. But Riot went harder on the aesthetic here. The dynasty armor mixed with futuristic tech panels, glowing energy cores, massive transforming weapons. Felt like watching a mecha anime crossover with Dynasty Warriors. Nine skins total, and most of them actually land.

1 skinWhat Sets Mecha Kingdoms Apart From Other Mech Lines
Riot already had the Mecha skinline before this. Those skins leaned full sci-fi, chrome plating, jet thrusters, Gundam vibes. Mecha Kingdoms does something different. The silhouettes keep the champion recognizable but wrap them in ornate armor plating that looks like ancient palace walls fused with reactor cores. Gold trims everywhere. Jade accents. Dragon motifs on shoulder guards and chest plates.
The shared VFX across the line use this cyan-gold energy signature. Abilities leave trails that look like calligraphy strokes mixed with circuit board patterns. Its a really specific look that none of the other tech lines pull off. PROJECT goes full cyberpunk. Pulsefire goes time-travel chrome. Mecha Kingdoms sits in this feudal-future space thats entirely its own thing.
Splash arts deserve a mention. Every single one has this massive scale feel, champions towering over battlefields in their mechs, armies in the background, clouds parting around them. Could be wrong here but I think these are some of the most cinematic splashes Riot put out that year. The composition on the Jax splash alone, him standing over a destroyed mech army with his lamp post replaced by a glowing energy staff. Hard to scroll past that in the collection tab.
Color palette stays consistent across all nine skins. Deep royal blues, burning golds, jade greens for accent work. The Prestige Garen variant swaps to white and gold but still reads as the same universe. That visual cohesion is something a lot of skinlines miss. Look at something like the Odyssey line where half the skins feel like they're from different games. Mecha Kingdoms keeps it tight.
Best Mecha Kingdoms Skins Worth Your RP
Mecha Kingdoms Jax takes it. Full stop. Legendary tier at 1820 RP and it earns every point. New VO, new animations, his mech transforms during combat. The Q leap has this jet-thruster trail, his W empowered auto makes the entire weapon glow like a reactor going critical. Been running this in ranked for seasons now and the auto-attack animations alone feel smoother than base Jax. (Random aside: the recall animation where his mech assembles around him piece by piece is probably top 5 recalls in the game.)
Mecha Kingdoms Darius is the other Legendary and it goes just as hard. 1820 RP. His ult, the Noxian Guillotine, turns into this massive overhead mech slam with energy waves radiating outward. Spammed this in Diamond last season and every dunk felt like an event. The passive bleed stacks show as glowing circuit lines on the target. New voice lines reference the kingdom lore. Darius mains should not sleep on this one.
Prestige Mecha Kingdoms Garen surprised me. Mythic tier, white and gold color scheme that reads cleaner than the base Epic version. The spin animation with white energy trails looks crisp against the Rift's green. Getting it now requires Mythic Essence which is a grind but for Garen one-tricks its the definitive version of that skin.
Mecha Kingdoms Sett deserves a shoutout even as an Epic. His W, the Haymaker shield and true damage punch, gets this massive energy buildup effect. Played maybe 40 games with it around February 2020 when Sett was still fresh and busted. The skin made an already satisfying ability feel even better. 1350 RP well spent.
Mecha Kingdoms Wukong rounds out my top picks. Kinda feels like Wukong was designed for this skinline. Monkey King in a mech suit channeling Sun Wukong but make it futuristic. His clone from W gets the full mech treatment too. Solid Epic for 1350 RP.
The Champion Roster and Who Fits
Eight champions across nine skins (Garen gets the Prestige variant). The roster leans heavy into melee fighters and tanks which makes sense. You're piloting giant mechs. Ranged champions would look weird here.
Jax fits perfectly. His whole identity is "guy with a weapon who beats everyone" and scaling that up to mech size just works. Darius same deal, the executioner fantasy translates naturally. Garen spinning in a mech suit is exactly as fun as it sounds.
Leona is the interesting pick. Support tank in a mech. Not gonna lie, I didn't expect it to work but the shield bash animations with mech plating look clean. Her ult calling down a solar beam gets the tech treatment and it reads well in teamfights. Good for Leona mains who want something different from the Eclipse or PROJECT lines.
Skarner feels like the odd one out. Maybe just my experience but a crystal scorpion in a mech suit is a stretch thematically. The skin itself looks fine, the abilities work, but the champion fantasy doesnt mesh with "ancient dynasty mech pilot" the way the others do. Draven works better than expected though. Spinning mech axes with energy trails. The catch animation is clean.
Who should Riot add if they ever revisit? Mordekaiser would be perfect. Giant armored mage who already looks like a walking siege engine. Scale that up to mech kingdom size and you have something special. Pantheon too, his whole Spartan warrior kit translates directly. And Sett getting a Legendary upgrade of his existing Epic would print money based on how popular that champion stays in solo queue.
Tier Breakdown and Pricing
Six Epics at 1350 RP each. Two Legendaries at 1820 RP. One Mythic Prestige. No Standard tier skins in the line which tells you Riot positioned this as a premium drop from the start.
The Legendaries carry the line. Real talk though, the Epics are solid for their price point. Mecha Kingdoms isnt one of those skinlines where you need the Legendary to get the full experience. The shared VFX, the color palette, the mech designs, they all show up at the Epic tier too. Sett and Wukong at 1350 feel complete.
Price range spans 1350 to 1820 RP if you're buying from the shop. The Prestige Garen requires Mythic Essence so thats a different grind entirely. Could be wrong here but I think the Epics in this line punch above their weight compared to other 1350 RP skins from 2020. The model work and VFX density feel closer to what you'd expect from a 2023 Epic.
Total investment if you wanted every skin in the line? Around 12,000 RP give or take, not counting Prestige. Thats steep. But honestly picking up just Jax Legendary and one or two Epics for champs you actually play is the move. No need to collect them all unless you're that person. (Sidebar: I am that person for like three skinlines and my wallet hates me for it.)
The whole line dropped in one event window, January 2020. Riot hasnt added new Mecha Kingdoms skins since. Six years and counting. Might be overthinking it but with the mech theme getting explored again through other lines, this one might stay frozen at nine skins permanently. Which honestly gives it a collectors appeal that growing skinlines dont have.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many Mecha Kingdoms skins are there?
Nine total. Eight champions got skins and Garen has both a base Epic and a Prestige Mythic variant. The full roster is Jax, Darius, Garen, Leona, Wukong, Sett, Skarner, and Draven. All dropped in January 2020 during a single event and Riot hasnt added to the line since then.
What is the best Mecha Kingdoms skin?
Mecha Kingdoms Jax. Legendary tier with new VO, transforming mech animations, and some of the best auto-attack feel in his entire skin catalog. Been my go-to Jax skin since it dropped. Mecha Kingdoms Darius is a close second if you main him, the ult animation alone is worth 1820 RP.
Which champions have Mecha Kingdoms skins?
Jax, Darius, Garen, Leona, Wukong, Sett, Skarner, and Draven. Eight champions total. The roster leans into melee fighters and tanks which fits the giant mech pilot fantasy. Garen is the only one with two versions, his base Epic and the Prestige white-gold variant.
Does Mecha Kingdoms have Legendary skins?
Two Legendaries. Jax and Darius both got the full 1820 RP treatment with new voice lines, unique animations, and transforming mech models. Both are strong picks. The rest of the line sits at Epic tier (1350 RP) with one Mythic Prestige for Garen.
When did the Mecha Kingdoms skinline release?
January 2020. The entire line dropped during a single event patch early in season 10. All nine skins came out at once which gave the launch a big event feel. Riot hasn't revisited the skinline since so it's been sitting at nine skins for over six years now.
Are Mecha Kingdoms skins worth buying?
The Legendaries absolutely yes. Jax and Darius Mecha Kingdoms are top-tier skins for both champions. The Epics at 1350 RP are solid too, especially Sett and Wukong. Skarner is the weakest fit thematically but still a decent skin. I'd say grab whatever matches champions you actually play in ranked.
Do Mecha Kingdoms skins have chromas?
Some of the Epic tier skins got chromas when they launched. The Legendaries did not get chromas which is standard for that tier. If you're looking for color variants the Epics have you covered. The Prestige Garen is basically a premium chroma in itself with the white and gold swap.
Will Riot make more Mecha Kingdoms skins?
No announcements as of 2026. The line hasnt gotten new skins since the original January 2020 drop. Could be wrong but with Riot exploring other mech themes and the roster already covering eight champions, Mecha Kingdoms might stay as a one-and-done event line. Gives it a bit of collectors appeal honestly.
