Death Blossom Skins

All 2 skins in the Death Blossom skinline. Browse splash art, chromas, and detailed reviews for every Death Blossom skin in League of Legends.

Death Blossom is one of those skinlines that flew under the radar for most players and I think thats partly why it works so well. Two skins. Both jungle assassins. Both built around this dark botanical horror vibe where nature isn't pretty, it's predatory. Been playing League since season 2 and I remember when Death Blossom Elise dropped, it felt like Riot was experimenting with something genuinely creepy. Not edgy-teenager creepy like some of the later lines. More like walking through a jungle at night and realizing the flowers have teeth. Only two skins in the entire line, Elise and Kha'Zix, both at 975 RP, and honestly the restraint is part of the charm.

What Sets Death Blossom Apart from Other Skinlines

Not gonna lie, Death Blossom occupies a weird space in the League cosmetics universe. It's not a massive thematic event line like Spirit Blossom or Coven. There's no cinematic trailer, no prestige edition, no icon bundle. Just two Standard tier skins released years apart. Death Blossom Elise came first back in 2012, and then Kha'Zix got his in 2016. Four year gap between releases. That alone tells you Riot wasnt exactly prioritizing this one.

But here's the thing. The visual identity is tight. Both skins lean into this corrupted nature aesthetic where flora and fauna merge into something hostile. Think Venus flytraps mixed with assassin bugs. The color palette runs deep purples, toxic greens, and fleshy pinks. Not the cute sakura petal pink either. More like the inside of a pitcher plant that's already digesting something.

Could be wrong here but I think Death Blossom was ahead of its time. The botanical horror angle didn't really get explored again until Elderwood and Coven started pushing into darker territory years later. Coven obviously went full dark fantasy witch, Elderwood leaned more fae-forest, but Death Blossom hit this specific predatory-plant niche that nobody else touches. (Random aside: I keep hoping Riot revisits this concept because the Zyra potential alone would be insane.)

The splash arts share a unified look. Dark backgrounds, bioluminescent accents, organic shapes that feel alive. Both champions already have insectoid or predatory base kits so the theme maps naturally onto their silhouettes. No forced aesthetic here. When Kha'Zix evolves his wings in Death Blossom, the petal shapes actually read like something that belongs on a jungle predator. Same deal with Elise's spider form getting that floral carapace treatment.

Compared to something like Blackthorn or Wildfire, Death Blossom commits harder to the horror side. It's not "nature is beautiful and dangerous." It's "nature will eat you and look gorgeous doing it." Small distinction but it matters when you're staring at your champion model for 30 minutes in a ranked game.

Best Death Blossom Skins

With only two skins in the line this section is short but honest. Both are Standard tier at 975 RP each so expectations should be calibrated accordingly. No new voice lines on either. No recall animations. This is 2012 and 2016 era Standard quality.

Death Blossom Kha'Zix is the stronger skin. Full stop. Might be overthinking it but I think the reason is simple: Kha'Zix's evolution mechanic gives him four visual transformations per game, and the Death Blossom versions of each evolved form look distinct enough to feel like you're getting extra value. The evolved wings specifically, those petal-blade shapes, I've been running this in Diamond jungle games since it dropped and the wing evolution still catches my eye every time. The green-purple color shift on his Q claws reads clean against the Rift too. Not muddy, not oversaturated. Just right.

Real talk though, Death Blossom Elise holds up surprisingly well for a 2012 skin. The spider form model got that floral exoskeleton look that still reads as unique in her skin lineup. Her human form has the flowing petal dress thing going on. It's not going to compete with Bewitching Elise or Withered Rose for pure visual fidelity, those are newer skins with bigger budgets. But for 975 RP? Solid purchase. I played maybe 40 games on it last season when I was spamming Elise jungle in my Diamond promos and the model clarity in teamfights was never an issue.

If I had to rank them: Kha'Zix first, Elise second. But it's close. The evolution mechanic just gives Kha'Zix more surface area to show off the theme. Elise's form swap is cool but less visually dramatic in the Death Blossom version specifically.

Neither skin has chromas. Zero. This is old-school Riot where you got one color variant and that was it. Kinda miss that simplicity honestly. No decision paralysis in champ select about which chroma matches your mood.

The Death Blossom Champion Roster

Two champions. Elise and Kha'Zix. That's the whole roster. Smallest skinline in League that isn't a one-off legendary or ultimate.

Both picks make thematic sense and I think that's why the line works despite being tiny. Elise is literally a spider queen who transforms between human and arachnid form. Predatory nature creature. Perfect fit. Kha'Zix is a Void predator that evolves by consuming prey. The "blossom that kills" concept maps onto both kits without any stretching.

Not sure if it's just me but I've always felt like Riot left obvious champions on the table here. Zyra is the most glaring omission. She's literally a plant mage. Death Blossom Zyra writes itself. Give her carnivorous plant seeds, make her ult a giant rafflesia bloom, done. Been saying this since season 6 I think or maybe 7, dont remember exactly. (Sidebar: if any Rioter reads this, please, the community has been asking for years.)

Nidalee would fit too. Jungle predator, cougar form, the transformation mechanic parallels Elise nicely. Rengar is another one, the hunter-prey dynamic works perfectly with the "beautiful but deadly" angle. Even someone like Ivern could work if you leaned into the idea that not all nature is friendly. Twisted Ivern where the trees fight back.

The pattern is clear: Death Blossom works best on champions with predatory kits, transformation mechanics, or existing ties to nature. The line doesn't need 15 champions. But four or five would give it enough weight to feel like a real collection instead of a footnote.

Tier and Pricing Breakdown

Both skins sit at Standard tier. Both cost 975 RP. No Legendaries. No Epics. No Mythics. This is as straightforward as it gets.

975 RP in 2012 and 2016 got you a model swap, new textures, and maybe some minor particle adjustments. No new voice lines on either skin. Voice stays default for both Elise and Kha'Zix. No new recall animations. Standard package.

Fair warning, if you're used to modern 1350 RP Epics with full VFX overhauls and custom recalls, Death Blossom will feel bare by comparison. These are products of their era. But the model work holds up. Kha'Zix especially still looks sharp in-game because his base model has enough geometric complexity that the retexture reads well even at today's resolution standards.

Price to value ratio is honestly decent. 975 RP for either skin feels fair for what you get. Not a steal, not a ripoff. Standard pricing for above-average model work. If you main either champion and want something different from the default look without dropping 1820 on a Legendary, these do the job.

Kinda feels like Riot priced these correctly for what they are. No pretension about being premium. Just clean 975 RP skins that change your look without promising the world. I respect that more than some of the 1350 Epics that barely justify the price bump over cheaper alternatives.

One thing worth noting: both skins are permanent shop items. Still in the shop, no vault rotation, no loot-exclusive nonsense. You can buy either one right now if you want them. No waiting for an event or rolling Hextech chests and praying.

Will Riot Expand Death Blossom?

Been asking myself this since 2016 when Kha'Zix got his skin and then... nothing. Six years of silence. Could be coping but I genuinely think there's demand for more Death Blossom content. The aesthetic aged well. Botanical horror is having a moment in gaming generally. Last Tuesday I saw a thread on the League subreddit asking for Death Blossom Zyra with like 2000 upvotes. The community hasnt forgotten this line.

The problem is competition. Riot has so many skinlines now that smaller ones get crowded out. Why invest in Death Blossom when Coven already covers dark nature fantasy with bigger budgets and established hype? That's probably the internal calculus. But Death Blossom is different enough, more alien, more predatory, less witch-coded, that I think it deserves another shot.

Maybe just my experience but the best skinlines in League are the ones with strong visual identity and limited roster. Blood Moon, Elderwood before it got bloated, Dark Star in its early days. Death Blossom has the identity. It just needs three or four more skins to hit critical mass. Give us Zyra, Nidalee, and Rengar in a single event patch. 1350 RP Epics with full VFX. The line would go from forgotten to fan-favorite overnight.

Until then we've got two solid Standard skins that do exactly what they promise. No more, no less. Sometimes that's enough. Played both across multiple seasons in ranked and neither one has ever made me think "I wish I'd picked a different skin." For a 975 RP purchase from 2012 and 2016 respectively, that's a win.

Death Blossom Skinline FAQ

How many Death Blossom skins are there?

Two skins total. Death Blossom Elise released in 2012 and Death Blossom Kha'Zix followed in 2016. Both Standard tier at 975 RP. Smallest skinline in League that has more than one champion. Not gonna lie I keep hoping Riot adds a third but it's been years at this point.

What is the best Death Blossom skin?

Death Blossom Kha'Zix edges out Elise in my opinion. The evolution mechanic gives you four visual transformations per game and the petal-wing evolution looks clean in teamfights. Elise is solid too but Kha'Zix just has more moments where the skin shines during an actual ranked game.

Which champions have Death Blossom skins?

Just Elise and Kha'Zix. Both jungle assassins with transformation mechanics. The theme fits them naturally since both champions are predatory by design. Community has been requesting Zyra and Nidalee for years but Riot hasn't expanded the line since 2016.

Does Death Blossom have Legendary skins?

No Legendaries. Both skins are Standard tier at 975 RP. No new voice lines, no custom recall animations. These are model-swap skins from 2012 and 2016 so expectations should match the era. Solid texture work but nothing approaching modern Legendary production value.

When did the Death Blossom skinline release?

Death Blossom Elise launched in 2012 as the first skin in the line. Death Blossom Kha'Zix came four years later in 2016. Been quiet since then with no new additions. The four year gap between releases already suggested Riot wasn't treating this as a priority line.

Are Death Blossom skins worth buying?

At 975 RP each they're fair purchases if you main either champion. Kha'Zix gets more value from the evolution mechanic showing off the theme. Elise's spider form retexture is clean. Neither will blow your mind compared to modern Epics but for the price point they deliver. Spammed both in ranked, zero regrets.

Do Death Blossom skins have chromas?

Neither skin has chromas. Zero options on either one. These released before Riot went all-in on the chroma system so you get the base color palette and that's it. The purple-green-pink scheme looks good enough that I honestly dont feel like chromas are missing, but more options never hurt.

Will Riot make more Death Blossom skins?

No official announcements as of early 2026. The line hasn't gotten a new skin since 2016 so the outlook isn't great. Community keeps requesting Zyra and Nidalee for the line. Could happen as part of a themed event but Riot has dozens of more popular skinlines competing for dev resources. Fingers crossed though.
