Shaco Skins
15 skins availableShaco is one of those champions where the skin collection tells you everything about Riot's relationship with the clown. Fifteen skins deep and spanning from 2010 to 2025, you'd think they'd have figured him out by now. Not gonna lie, some of these are absolute bangers and some feel like Riot forgot he existed for a few years. Been maining Shaco on and off since season 4, mostly as a jungle one-trick in Diamond, and I've owned every single one of these skins at some point. The catalog is weird, inconsistent, and somehow perfect for a champion who's all about chaos.

Shaco's Skin Collection Over the Years
Fifteen skins total. Seven Standards, six Epics, one Mythic, and one Legendary. That spread is honestly pretty decent for a champion who doesn't exactly sell like Lux or Ahri. The oldest skin, Mad Hatter Shaco, goes back to 2010. Ancient. The newest, Cat-in-the-Box Shaco, dropped in 2025 and finally gave him that Legendary tier everyone was asking for.
The early years were rough though. From 2010 to maybe 2015, Shaco was stuck in that era where skins were basically recolors with a hat swap. Royal Shaco, Nutcracko, Workshop Shaco - they're charming in a retro way but dont hold up against modern standards. Asylum Shaco from that same period tried to go dark and edgy but the model just wasnt there yet. Could be wrong here but I think Masked Shaco was the first one that actually felt like a different character.
Things picked up around 2017-2018 when Riot started giving him Epic tier attention. Dark Star Shaco was the turning point. That skin proved Shaco could carry a premium theme and not just be the joke champion with joke skins. From there the catalog got consistently better. Arcanist, Crime City Nightmare, Winterblessed, Soul Fighter - all Epic tier, all worth owning.
(Random aside: I remember checking the PBE patch notes every cycle for like three years straight hoping for a Shaco Legendary. The wait was painful.) The Mythic slot goes to Prestige Soul Fighter Shaco which is a flex pick for collectors. Not something you can just buy in the shop. Special currency situation there.
Year range of 2010 to 2025 means fifteen years of skins. That's wild when you think about it. Some champions got that many skins in half the time. Shaco mains are patient people. We have to be. The champion literally teaches you patience through suffering.
Best Skins for Shaco
Cat-in-the-Box Shaco. Full stop. The Legendary that took forever to arrive and it absolutely delivered. 1820 RP and you get new voice lines, completely reworked animations, the Q stealth VFX is different, the boxes from W have unique models, E has a new projectile, and the R clone actually looks distinct in a way that messes with people's heads in teamfight scenarios. Been spamming this in Diamond since it dropped and the amount of times the enemy team focuses the clone is noticeably higher. Something about the skin's visual noise just makes it harder to tell which Shaco is real.
Kinda feels like the skin was designed by someone who actually plays him. The backstab animation is crisp, the jungle clear feels smoother even though I know thats placebo. Locked this in for maybe 40 games straight last month and havent looked back.
Dark Star Shaco sits at number two for me. 1350 RP Epic and the cosmic horror theme fits a trickster assassin better than it has any right to. The boxes become these little dark matter orbs, the clone on R has that galaxy dissolve effect. Played this one exclusively for two full seasons before Cat-in-the-Box existed. In my ranked games around Plat 2 to Diamond 4, this was the skin I saw other Shaco players use most often too.
Crime City Nightmare Shaco is third. The noir horror aesthetic goes hard. 1350 RP for what feels like a mini visual update. The W boxes specifically look terrifying in this skin. Dropped a box in the enemy jungle near dragon pit last week and watched their Evelynn walk right into it. The jump scare factor is real with this one.
Arcanist Shaco deserves the fourth spot. Clean magical theme, 1350 RP, the card motifs on his abilities read well on the Rift. Not sure if it's just me but the Q blink on Arcanist feels snappier than other skins. Probably just the visual feedback being tighter.
Prestige Soul Fighter Shaco rounds out my top five. Mythic tier, special acquisition only. The white and gold color scheme is clean. Not everyone has access to this one which makes it a flex in champion select. Seen maybe five of these total across all my games this season.
Skinlines and Themes That Fit Shaco
Shaco appears across a scattered mix of skinlines. Storybook covers the cat skin. Dark Star pulled him into the cosmic horror universe. Arcanists gave him the magical trickster angle. Crime City Nightmare went full noir demon clown. Snowdown Showdown has Nutcracko and Winterblessed. Soul Fighter brought him into the fighting game aesthetic.
Real talk though, the themes that work best for Shaco are the ones that lean into his creepy trickster identity. Dark Star nails it. Crime City Nightmare nails it. These are skinlines where being unsettling is the point, and Shaco's kit - the stealth, the boxes, the clone - amplifies that feeling perfectly. When I'm playing ranked and want to get in the enemy jungler's head, I pick one of these darker themes.
The lighter themes work differently. Arcanist is playful without being goofy. Cat-in-the-Box from the Storybook line somehow makes a murderous clown adorable and terrifying at the same time. Wild Card Shaco from the Highstakes line leans casino trickster which fits thematically even if the skin itself is showing its age.
Might be overthinking it but I think Shaco is one of those champions where nearly any theme can work because his personality is so strong. You slap any aesthetic on him and the creepy jester energy still comes through. The boxes still scare people. The clone still baits. The Q still makes ADCs cry. (Sidebar for Shaco mains specifically: you know the feeling when you Q behind someone and they flash into your box. Thats peak League.)
Budget vs Premium Picks
The price range runs from 520 RP on the old Standards up to 1820 RP for Cat-in-the-Box. Big spread. If you're climbing on a budget, Masked Shaco at 520 RP actually looks decent for what it costs. Nothing flashy but the visual change is enough to feel different from base.
For the Epic tier sweet spot at 1350 RP, Dark Star Shaco is the best value pick. No question. The VFX changes punch way above 1350. If I could only own one skin under Legendary price, Dark Star every time. Crime City Nightmare is the close second here.
Worth noting that several of the old Standards like Royal Shaco and Mad Hatter are Legacy vault skins. You cant just buy them. So "budget" options are actually limited to whatever's currently in the shop rotation. Workshop Shaco and Asylum Shaco should still be available though.
If you main him seriously and you're gonna lock in Shaco for hundreds of games, just get Cat-in-the-Box. 1820 RP feels fair for what you get. The new voice lines alone justify the price for someone who plays him regularly. Been running this skin since release and the per-game cost is basically nothing at this point. Probably played 150 games with it already. Standard pricing for a Legendary, above-average execution.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many skins does Shaco have?
Fifteen skins total as of 2025. Seven Standard tier, six Epic, one Mythic (Prestige Soul Fighter), and one Legendary (Cat-in-the-Box). Pretty solid catalog for a champion that isn't exactly Riot's poster child. The collection spans from 2010 to 2025 so there's a huge quality gap between the oldest and newest ones.
What is the best Shaco skin?
Cat-in-the-Box Shaco. The Legendary. New voice lines, completely reworked animations, unique VFX on every ability. Dark Star is the runner-up if you want something cheaper at 1350 RP. Both are S-tier. Honestly cant go wrong with either one for ranked games or just looking good on the Rift.
What is the cheapest Shaco skin?
Masked Shaco at 520 RP is the cheapest one you can actually buy. Some older Standards like Mad Hatter and Royal Shaco were 520 too but they're Legacy vault skins now. So your budget option in the current shop is Masked. Looks decent for the price, nothing crazy though.
Does Shaco have a Legendary skin?
Yes. Cat-in-the-Box Shaco dropped in 2025 and it's his first and only Legendary. 1820 RP. Took forever to get one but it was worth the wait. New VO, new animations, the whole package. Shaco mains waited like a decade for this. No exaggeration. We suffered.
What skinlines is Shaco in?
He's spread across a bunch. Dark Star, Arcanists, Crime City Nightmare, Soul Fighter, Snowdown Showdown, Storybook, Highstakes, and some Legacy era lines. The diversity is actually nice - you get cosmic horror, noir, magical trickster, fighting game vibes. Something for every mood when you're locking in.
Does Shaco have chromas?
Several of his newer Epic skins have chromas available. Dark Star, Arcanist, Crime City Nightmare, and others got chroma sets. The older Standard skins don't have any. If chromas matter to you, stick with the 1350 RP tier skins from 2017 onward. Those usually shipped with a full chroma pack.
When was Shaco's last skin released?
Cat-in-the-Box Shaco in 2025. His first Legendary skin. Before that was Fright Night Shaco and the Soul Fighter duo in 2023-2024 range. Riot's been giving him more attention lately compared to the drought years. Feels good to not be forgotten for once.
Is Shaco worth buying skins for?
If you main him, absolutely. Shaco is one of those champions where you either play 500 games a season on him or zero. There's no casual Shaco player. So if you're committed, get Cat-in-the-Box or Dark Star. The VFX changes on both actually affect how opponents react to your boxes and clone. Worth the investment for a one-trick.
