Demacia Vice Skins

Demacia Vice is probably the most underrated skinline Riot ever dropped. Pure 80s synthwave energy, neon pink and electric blue everywhere, and it only has 4 skins total. Thats criminal. Been running Demacia Vice Garen in ranked since season 9 and every time someone in champ select sees the splash they type something in chat. The aesthetic is Miami Vice meets the Rift, simple as that. Riot took two Demacian champions, threw in Lucian and Vi for good measure, and created something that feels more like a love letter to retrowave than a standard cosmetic line. Not sure if it's just me but this line deserved way more attention than it got.

What Makes Demacia Vice Stand Out

The visual signature here is impossible to miss. Neon gradients, chrome details, sunset color palettes. Every Demacia Vice skin looks like it belongs on a VHS tape cover from 1987. The shared elements across the line are the pink-to-blue color transitions and the angular, almost geometric particle work on abilities. Garen's spin looks like a laser show. Lucian's guns trail hot pink. The whole thing screams synthwave and Riot committed to it fully.

Compare this to something like Arcade or PROJECT. Those lines go futuristic but stay within typical gaming aesthetics. Demacia Vice goes somewhere else entirely. It's retro-futuristic. There's a warmth to the neon palette that cold tech lines dont have. The splash arts feel like movie posters, not character portraits. Garen literally looks like he's about to hop into a Testarossa and chase down Noxian criminals on a coastal highway.

Could be wrong here but I think the reason this line hits so hard is the contrast. You take these serious Demacian champions, warriors in heavy armor, and you dress them in pastel neons and aviator sunglasses. The juxtaposition works because Riot leaned all the way in. No half measures. Garen has a neon sword. Lucian has chrome pistols. The recall animations fit the 80s cop show vibe perfectly.

(Random aside: the Demacia Vice Garen splash has been my Discord profile banner for like two years now and nobody has ever guessed it's from League.)

The color theory deserves a mention too. Most skinlines pick one dominant color. Star Guardian is pink and pastel. Dark Star is purple and void. Demacia Vice runs a full sunset gradient from hot pink through electric blue to deep purple, and it manages to keep readability on the Rift. Played maybe 40 games last week with the Garen skin and never once lost track of my character in a teamfight. The neon actually helps with visibility, weirdly enough.

Best Demacia Vice Skins

Demacia Vice Garen. Full stop. This is the skin that carries the entire line. The spin-to-win with neon trails is genuinely one of the best looking abilities on any Epic tier skin in the game. His Q lights up with this pink glow that makes the bonk feel heavier somehow. I've been spamming this in Diamond for seasons and the E animation alone justifies the 1350 RP price tag. Lock this in and the lane opponent knows you mean business.

Demacia Vice Lucian comes in close second. The gun VFX are clean, every auto attack leaves these crisp neon tracers, and the ult turns into a full-on light show. Real talk though, Lucian has so many good skins that this one sometimes gets overshadowed. High Noon Lucian exists. PROJECT Lucian exists. But if you want something that feels completely different from every other ADC skin in the game, Demacia Vice is the pick. Been running it in bot lane specifically when I want to tilt the enemy support with the flashy particles.

Neon Strike Vi fits the vibe even though she predates the official Demacia Vice drop. The neon aesthetic on her gauntlets works. Not the strongest Vi skin out there but it earns its spot in the thematic family. Kinda feels like Riot prototyped the whole synthwave direction with this one before committing to the full Demacia Vice line years later.

Armor of the Fifth Age Taric is the wildcard. Pink gem knight energy. It's more of a meme skin than a serious cosmetic but the color palette overlaps enough with Demacia Vice that the grouping makes sense. Honestly not gonna lie, I've seen maybe two people run this skin in ranked all season and both times they hard carried. Might be the skin diff.

If I'm ranking them for pure visual quality: Garen first, Lucian second, Vi third, Taric fourth. But for entertainment value Taric jumps to the top because nothing tilts an engage comp harder than a pink Taric peeling for the backline.

The Champion Roster

Four champions. Thats it. Garen and Lucian are the core Demacia Vice duo, released together in 2019 as a deliberate pair. They share the same splash art universe, same aesthetic language, same neon-chrome design philosophy. These two feel intentional. Riot designed them as a matched set and it shows.

Vi makes sense thematically. She's a cop. Demacia Vice is a cop show aesthetic. Neon Strike Vi dropped way back in 2013 before the Demacia Vice branding existed but the retrograde fit is natural. She punches things with glowing fists. The fantasy writes itself.

Taric is the oddball. Armor of the Fifth Age came out in 2010 as essentially a joke skin. Pink armor, fabulous energy, zero connection to synthwave or 80s cop dramas. But Riot grouped it here and honestly? The palette works. Not gonna fight it.

Who should get a Demacia Vice skin next? I've been thinking about this since last Tuesday around 2 AM after a ranked session. Caitlyn is the obvious answer. She's literally a sheriff. Give her neon rifle VFX and a synthwave recall and you have an instant hit. Jayce would work too, the hammer-cannon dual form lends itself to flashy neon effects. Maybe even Camille with chrome blade legs. (Sidebar: if Riot ever makes Demacia Vice Caitlyn I'm taking full credit for manifesting it on Reddit.)

The small roster is both a strength and a weakness. Strength because every skin feels curated, not filler. Weakness because four skins isnt enough to build a real collection around. Compare this to Star Guardian with 30+ skins or PROJECT with like 20. Demacia Vice got two dedicated releases and then Riot moved on. Pain.

Tier Breakdown and Pricing

The line splits evenly. Two Epic skins at 1350 RP (Garen and Lucian) and two Standard skins at 750 RP (Vi and Taric). No Legendaries. No Ultimates. No Mythics. Just solid mid-range cosmetics.

The Epics carry the line. Garen and Lucian both justify 1350 RP easily. New particles, new recall animations, the full package you'd expect from modern Epics. Been daily driving the Garen one and it competes with skins twice its price in terms of feel.

The Standards are older skins from a different era. Neon Strike Vi at 750 RP gets model changes and some particle work but nothing close to current Epic standards. Same deal with Armor of the Fifth Age Taric. These are pre-2015 releases when 750 RP skins were basically recolors with minor model tweaks. Fair warning, if you're buying these expecting Demacia Vice Garen levels of polish you'll be disappointed.

Price range for the whole set: 750 to 1350 RP. No skin in this line will break the bank. You could buy all four for less than a single Ultimate skin. Not bad for a complete collection. Might be overthinking it but I think the accessible pricing is part of why people sleep on this line. There's no flashy 1820 RP Legendary to generate hype. No Prestige edition. Just clean skins at reasonable prices that deliver exactly what they promise.

Season 9 was when Garen and Lucian dropped, middle of 2019. I remember because I was climbing through Plat at the time and Garen was already my comfort pick for top lane. Seeing the Demacia Vice reveal felt personal. Locked it in immediately and havent looked back.

Where Demacia Vice Fits in the Bigger Picture

Every couple of years Riot tries something thematically risky. Demacia Vice was one of those experiments. They took a real-world pop culture aesthetic, 80s Miami Vice and synthwave, and grafted it onto Runeterra champions. It worked. The community loved it. And then Riot just... stopped making them.

The 2019 release got positive reception across Reddit and Twitter. People were begging for more champions in the line. Caitlyn threads. Xin Zhao concepts. Full roster expansion wishlists. Riot acknowledged the love but never followed through with new entries. Could be coping but I think they're saving it for a big event drop eventually. The aesthetic is too strong to abandon permanently.

Thing is, Demacia Vice competes in a crowded space now. K/DA exists. True Damage exists. Heartsteel pushed the music-adjacent skinline concept further than anyone expected. But none of those capture the specific retrowave niche that Demacia Vice owns. There's room for all of them. Give me a Demacia Vice event with a synthwave soundtrack and a cinematic and I'll throw RP at the screen. Not even joking, I said this exact thing in my ranked Discord last Saturday night after a five game win streak on Garen.

For now the line sits at 4 skins. Small but memorable. Every one of them is recognizable instantly on the loading screen. That's more than you can say for half the lines with 15+ entries where skins blur together. Quality over quantity. Demacia Vice understood the assignment.
