Zaahen dropped into the Rift with exactly one skin option and honestly thats more than enough to talk about. New champion, fresh kit, and Riot decided to pair the release with an Immortal Journey skin. Not the worst call. Been playing Zaahen since release and the skin situation is about as straightforward as it gets: you either run the base model or you lock in Immortal Journey. No deep catalog to scroll through, no tier debates, no "which Legendary is better" arguments. Just one Epic skin sitting in the shop next to a default look. Simple. Could be wrong here but I think that actually makes the decision easier for most people jumping into this champion for the first time.

Zaahen's Skin Collection So Far

One skin. Thats the whole collection right now. Immortal Journey Zaahen launched alongside the champion as a release skin, which is pretty standard for how Riot handles new additions to the roster these days. Most champions get a release skin in whatever skinline Riot is pushing that patch cycle, and Zaahen landed squarely in the Immortal Journey batch.

For context, one skin is completely normal for a champion this fresh. Look at any recent release and the pattern is the same. Champion drops, release skin drops with it, then you wait anywhere from six months to over a year before skin number two shows up. Some champions get lucky and land a popular skinline early. Others sit in limbo for a while. (Random aside: I still remember how long Naafiri waited before getting anything beyond the release skin.)

The catalog will grow. Riot doesn't leave new champions hanging forever, especially if the pick rate stays healthy. Been watching Zaahen's play rate in my Diamond games and the champion shows up enough that I'd expect a second skin within the next year or so. Maybe sooner if Riot slots Zaahen into a major event skinline. But right now, season 2025 or 2026, one skin is what we're working with. Plan accordingly.

Best Skins for Zaahen

When you only have one skin the "best skin" conversation is pretty short. Immortal Journey Zaahen wins by default. Also loses by default. Depends on your perspective I guess.

Real talk though, the Immortal Journey version does pull its weight as a release skin. The thematic fits Zaahen's aesthetic well. Immortal Journey as a skinline leans into that Eastern mythology vibe with flowing robes, celestial effects, and ornate weapon designs. On Zaahen specifically, the model changes are solid for an Epic tier. New textures across the board, ability VFX that shift into that warm golden and jade palette the Immortal Journey line is known for. The Q feels distinct from base, and the ult VFX have enough visual punch that you can tell you're running a skin without it being obnoxious in teamfights.

Played maybe 40 games with Immortal Journey Zaahen since picking up the champion and the skin reads cleanly in lane. That matters more than people think. Some skins have VFX that muddy up the visual clarity, make it harder to track ability hitboxes during engages or peel situations. Not the case here. Could be wrong but I think the Immortal Journey VFX actually make Zaahen's kit slightly easier to read for your teammates too, which is a nice bonus in comp play.

The recall animation is decent. Nothing groundbreaking but it fits the Immortal Journey theme. Base Zaahen's recall is functional, the Immortal Journey version adds enough flavor to feel like an upgrade without going overboard. Standard Epic stuff.

Kinda feels like Riot played it safe with this release skin. No wild creative swings, no polarizing color choices. Just a clean Epic that does what it needs to do. For a champion's first non-base option, thats about all you can ask for. The real test will be what comes next. When Zaahen gets a Legendary or lands in a skinline like Dark Star or PROJECT, then we'll have a real conversation about best skins. Right now Immortal Journey is the only conversation.

Compared to other Immortal Journey skins across the roster, Zaahen's version holds up. The skinline has produced some solid entries over the years. Not sure if it's just me but the Immortal Journey aesthetic seems to work best on champions with flowing abilities and clear spell animations, and Zaahen checks both boxes. Good fit.

Skinlines and Themes That Fit Zaahen

Immortal Journey is the only skinline Zaahen belongs to right now. One champion, one skin, one skinline. Clean slate.

The Immortal Journey line has been around for a while and it's one of those skinlines that Riot returns to periodically. Think of it as the Eastern fantasy counterpart to stuff like High Noon or Dark Star. Flowing energy effects, celestial imagery, ornate designs pulled from Chinese and East Asian mythology. The skinline has hosted champions like Talon, Kayn, Sona, and others over the years, and the quality has been consistently solid.

For Zaahen specifically, the Immortal Journey theme works. The champion's kit and visual identity mesh well with that celestial warrior fantasy. Not every champion fits every skinline naturally. Some combinations feel forced. This one doesnt. The golden VFX and flowing particle work complement Zaahen's abilities without fighting against the base design language.

Looking ahead, I'd love to see Zaahen in something darker. Maybe a Coven skin or Dark Star treatment. The champion's silhouette and ability kit could support a more menacing aesthetic. (Sidebar: I've been thinking about this way too much for a champion I picked up like two weeks ago.) High Noon could work too, depending on how creative Riot gets with the model. But honestly that's all speculation at this point. For now the Immortal Journey catalog is where Zaahen lives, and it's a respectable home.

Fair warning, the skinline situation means if you don't vibe with the Immortal Journey aesthetic, you're stuck on base Zaahen until Riot releases something different. No alternatives. No backup plan. Base or Immortal Journey. Pick one.

Budget vs Premium: Zaahen Skin Value

This section is gonna be short because there's exactly one option and it sits at Epic tier. No budget pick, no premium splurge, no "is the Legendary worth 500 extra RP" debate. Immortal Journey Zaahen is an Epic skin, presumably 1350 RP, and that's your only non-base choice.

At 1350 RP, you get what Epic skins typically deliver: new model, new textures, new VFX on all abilities, new recall animation. Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Standard for the tier. Nothing above, nothing below. For mains who are gonna be spamming Zaahen in ranked, 1350 RP is a reasonable investment. You'll see that skin every game and the visual upgrade over base is noticeable enough to justify the price.

Might be overthinking it but the value calculation changes depending on how committed you are to Zaahen long term. If you're just trying the champion out, testing builds, seeing if the kit clicks in your ranked games - maybe hold off. Wait for a sale or wait to see if a better skin drops in six months. But if you already know Zaahen is your new main, if you've been climbing with this champion and plan to keep going, 1350 RP for the only available skin feels fair. Been running Immortal Journey in my Diamond games and it feels solid enough that I dont regret the purchase.
