Nilah Skins
3 skins availableNilah is one of the newer champions on the Rift and her skin catalog reflects that. Three skins total. All Epic tier. Might sound slim but honestly every single one of them hits different compared to what some older champions got stuck with for years. Been playing Nilah bot lane since her release in 2022 and I've rotated through all three skins enough to have real opinions on each. Small roster but zero duds, which is more than I can say for champions with fifteen skins where half of them look like recolors. The quality bar Riot set for Nilah cosmetics is genuinely high.

3 skinsHow Nilah's Skin Catalog Shaped Up
Three skins spanning 2022 to 2023. Thats a pretty quick turnaround if you think about it. Star Guardian Nilah dropped the same year she launched, which tells you Riot had plans for her visual identity from day one. Coven followed, then Inkshadow rounded it out. All three sit at 1350 RP Epic tier. No Legendary, no budget options, no 520 RP throwaway skin collecting dust in the shop.
Not gonna lie, having zero tier variety is a bit annoying for anyone looking at the budget angle. You're spending 1350 RP no matter which one you pick. No cheap alternative exists. But the flip side is that every skin delivers actual VFX and model changes that feel worth the price. Riot didnt phone any of them in.
For a champion released in July 2022, three skins in roughly a year and a half is solid output. Compare that to someone like Ornn who waited forever for his second skin. Nilah mains got treated well early. The question now is when skin number four drops and whether Riot goes Legendary with it. Could be wrong here but I think she's due for one by late 2026 or early 2027 based on the cadence so far.
(Random aside: Nilah's base skin is actually decent enough that some games I forget to switch off it. The water effects on her W are clean even without a premium skin equipped.)
The three skinlines she landed in are all strong thematic picks too. Star Guardian, Coven, Inkshadow. Each one takes her kit in a completely different visual direction. No overlap, no redundancy. Smart choices from the skins team.
Best Skins for Nilah
Okay so ranking three skins feels almost silly but there's still a clear hierarchy here. Been spamming Nilah in Diamond since season 13 and I've put real hours into each of these.
Star Guardian Nilah sits at the top for me. Full stop. The magical girl aesthetic works surprisingly well with her kit. Her Q slash gets these sparkle trails that feel satisfying to land in lane. The W shield bubble turns into this shimmering barrier thing that actually reads better in teamfights than base. Real talk though, the recall animation is what sold me. The little guardian companion interaction is genuinely charming. 1350 RP and it feels like Riot packed Legendary-level attention into it.
Coven Nilah is the dark horse. Literally. The gothic witch energy transforms her entire vibe from cheerful water fighter to something way more menacing. Her E dash leaves these dark trails and the ult VFX goes from water whirlpool to this shadowy vortex that looks sick in a teamfight. Played maybe 80 games with Coven last split and the number of times enemy bot lanes paused when they saw the skin load in was funny. It has presence. The purple and black color scheme reads perfectly against the Rift's green tones so you always stand out.
Inkshadow Nilah rounds out the trio. The ink brush aesthetic is unique and the Eastern art style gives her abilities this flowing calligraphy feel. Her Q looks like a brush stroke cutting through the air. Cool concept. But if I'm being honest it doesnt pop as hard as the other two in actual gameplay. The effects blend into busy teamfights more than Star Guardian's sparkles or Coven's dark VFX. Still a good skin. Just third place in a strong lineup.
Kinda feels like Riot nailed the assignment on all three but Star Guardian and Coven both went above and beyond. Inkshadow is the "safe pick" of the bunch. Nothing wrong with it, nothing that makes you go "I need to lock this in every game."
Skinlines and Thematic Fit
Star Guardian Season 4 was a massive event and Nilah fit right in. Her personality in the base kit is already upbeat and energetic. Translating that into the magical girl genre was almost too easy for Riot. The guardian companion adds lore depth that her base skin doesn't have. For anyone who cares about the Star Guardian universe specifically, Nilah's entry is solid.
Coven goes the opposite direction and thats exactly why it works. Taking a cheerful melee bot laner and draping her in dark witch aesthetics creates contrast that catches your eye. The Coven skinline has been one of Riot's most consistent since they started it. Morgana, LeBlanc, Zyra - all bangers. Nilah slots into that roster without feeling forced. Might be overthinking it but the water-to-shadow conversion on her abilities is one of the better thematic translations I've seen on an Epic tier skin.
Inkshadow is the most niche of the three. The skinline pulls from East Asian ink wash painting traditions. Beautiful concept. On Nilah it manifests as these brush stroke effects on her abilities. Her splash art for this one is gorgeous. But the in-game model doesn't capture the splash energy as well as the other two skins do. Season 13 I ran this exclusively for about three weeks before switching back to Star Guardian.
What I want to see next for Nilah? Something like Winterblessed or Spirit Blossom. A line that leans into the fluid motion of her kit. Water and flow-based champions benefit from skinlines that emphasize movement and particle effects. (Sidebar for Nilah mains specifically: imagine a Blood Moon Nilah where the water turns to blood. Tell me that wouldnt go hard.)
Budget vs Premium - The Nilah Edition
Here's where Nilah's catalog gets simple. There is no budget option. Every skin costs 1350 RP. No 520 RP texture swap, no 750 RP model change without new VFX, no 975 RP middle ground. You're paying Epic prices no matter what.
For someone climbing ranked and wanting a single Nilah skin, Star Guardian is my recommendation. Best VFX clarity in lane, best recall, best overall feel for the price. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get there.
If you already own Star Guardian and want a second skin for rotation, Coven. Different enough visually that it actually feels like playing a different champion some games. Been daily driving that rotation in my Diamond games this season and swapping between the two keeps Nilah feeling fresh even after hundreds of games.
Inkshadow is the completionist pick. Good skin. Worth 1350? Probably. But if you're only buying one or two Nilah skins, it's the one to skip. Not gonna lie, I mainly use it when I'm playing normals with friends and want something different. In ranked I always gravitate back to Star Guardian or Coven because the ability readability is just slightly better on both.
No Legendary exists for Nilah yet. That means no new voice lines on any skin, no unique animations beyond recalls. All three share base Nilah's VO and movement animations. For 1350 RP each thats expected, but it does mean the skins feel more like "premium reskins" than complete reimaginings. The day Riot drops a Legendary Nilah skin with new voice lines and unique walk animations, that'll be the one to get. Until then, these three Epics hold it down fine.
Fair warning, Nilah doesn't go on sale as often as older champions since she's still relatively new. Caught Star Guardian at 50% off once during a Your Shop rotation around late 2023 I think. Keep an eye on those personalized sales if you want to save some RP. Otherwise 1350 is what you're paying.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many skins does Nilah have?
Nilah has 3 skins total as of 2024. Star Guardian, Coven, and Inkshadow. All three are Epic tier at 1350 RP. Pretty small catalog but she only launched in 2022 so thats actually a decent pace from Riot. No budget skins, no Legendary yet. Expect that to change within a couple seasons.
What is the best Nilah skin?
Star Guardian Nilah. Been running it since release and the VFX quality is noticeably above the other two. Sparkle effects on Q read cleanly in lane, the W barrier looks great, and the recall animation is top tier for an Epic skin. Coven is a close second if you prefer darker aesthetics. Both solid picks for ranked.
What is the cheapest Nilah skin?
All three Nilah skins cost 1350 RP. No cheap option exists. She doesn't have a 520, 750, or 975 RP skin. Your best bet for saving RP is waiting for a Your Shop rotation or a sale event. Grabbed mine at half off once but it took months of waiting. Base Nilah honestly holds up fine if you're patient.
Does Nilah have a Legendary skin?
Nope. No Legendary, no Ultimate, no Mythic. All three skins sit at Epic tier (1350 RP). That means no new voice lines or unique animations beyond recalls on any of them. Feels like a Legendary Nilah is overdue honestly. Her kit has so much potential for a premium skin with new VO and ability animations. Riot, please.
What skinlines is Nilah in?
Three skinlines: Star Guardian Season 4, Coven, and Inkshadow. Good variety for only three skins. Star Guardian gives her the magical girl treatment, Coven goes dark gothic witch, and Inkshadow pulls from East Asian ink wash art. Each one takes her abilities in a completely different visual direction which is honestly impressive for just three skins.
Does Nilah have chromas?
Some of her skins do have chroma options available. Star Guardian Nilah and Coven Nilah both got chroma sets on release. Gives you extra color variety if you want to customize beyond the base skin look. Not sure about exact counts off the top of my head but check the individual skin pages for the full breakdown and color options.
When was Nilah's last skin released?
Coven Nilah dropped in 2023 making it her most recent skin. That means she's been waiting over a year for skin number four. Riot tends to cycle back to newer champions pretty regularly so I'd expect something in 2025 or 2026. Could be wrong but the gap is getting noticable for mains who want fresh options.
Is Nilah worth buying skins for?
If you main her or play her regularly in bot lane, absolutely. Her kit is flashy and the skins enhance that. Star Guardian alone justifies the investment. She's not a champion you pick casually though - Nilah rewards one-tricks and dedicated players. If you're just trying her out, stick with base skin first. Lock in a purchase after you know shes your champion.
